Prices must have really come down on these. Mine was cracked last summer. Safelite wanted I think over 800. Had my insurance cover it and paid the deductible. I saw the bill for it and it was over 1100. I'm surprised to see these companies offering them for so low. Are they of the same quality? I saw on the paperwork where the glass came from saying it had all this acoustic blah blah mess in the glass. I'm guessing to help reduce some noise, it sure didn't help with it cracking though.

    Whoa... $160?

    Is it made of glass?

$380 - aftermarket - looks like oem exept the gopro mount is without the logo and mine was defective or their quality is poor or had a bad luck
    $680 - oem
at safelite if you pay from your wallet
if you go trough the insurance for example same aftermarket from safelite will cost $829

ealership will charge you over $1100 and they dont do glass instalation they got a local shop

mine was replaced 3 times , because of the wind noise and eventually at the 3rd time they decided to go with OEM
went trough statefarm cause got 0 comprehensive deductible ($17 more a year - lol) - their policy is to go with aftermarket or you can pay the difference or installer have to make that request

btw - make sure that they dont brake the cowl piece clips , like they did in my car, took me 6 weeks and a lot of phone calls to get the new part from them, best way to check it - try to lift it when you pop up the hood and test your windshield washerd if they hit the cowl theres is something wrong

Thanks for the info! I got mine replaced at a pretty sketchy area for $160 plus tax. It was an after market windshield but it even had the go pro mount except this one didn't say go pro. They did a decent job. Can't complain for the cost. Didn't hear any wind noise the last 2 days driving it. I checked the cowl clips and they were all intact. Windshield washer and wipers worked fine. Thanks for th info

Don't know if this was already said but once I had a crack on a camry we have in my family and when we called geico they did the replacement for free from safelite since it falls under a "nature" incident I guess. Don't remember the exact words they said but no money increased on monthly payments or deductible

My dealership finance guy (which is odd since I wasn't financing) tried to sell me that windshield protectant film for $700, and told me that an OEM windshield for a Tacoma was $1500 and, thus, it was a good deal. I asked why so much for the OEM, and he said "It's made in layers, a special sort of glass, and costs a bunch." I advised him that I have $100 deductible glass coverage on my insurance, so I'd have to break at least 7 windshields to break even, so no thanks!

    Lying fuckers......

First 2 cost me 585 at the dealer. Fuck fixing it a 3rd time. Ill just go to a shady inspection station this year and run with a broken windshield until it completely implodes
