What I understood is the law still passed but the regulatory group needs to decide what are the exact items/rules etc and that has not been decided. I am torn on what I want to do. Registering will allow me to have my normal rifles, I just will not be able to pass onto my kids or anything of the like while in CA. As I have quite a long time before that would happen not quite sure what I want to do. All of my rifles but 1 were purchased prior to Jan 2017.

I didn't see this. I will probably still order the mag release kit just to have it. If those regulations do pass, I can only imagine a million people will probably be trying to get their guns compliant all at once. So fking confusing though honestly. Half the resources seem to point towards folks with bullet buttons are "ok", but still need to register. Others seem to say no matter what, unless you have a non detachable magazine, it's going to be illegal to own. Glad to see even the folks who created the legislation don't exactly know what to do yet. Gives us all some time.

I thought about it too... but couldn't imagine having a gun not only registered as an assault weapon, but all the things that go along with that title. Can't lend the firearm, sell, pass on to kids, drop it off at gunsmith unless present the whole time... etc etc. fuck that.

Yes the mag lock will make it so you don't have to register. But given that the mag locks are about as expensive if not more than the cost of registering each rifle (I believe it was $50 each registration), it comes down to whether or not you want the California government to know you have something.

I believe its also only in CA not federally. In that case I think you can still sell the firearm as long as it goes out of state. Not entirelly sure if you could give it to someone out of state.

its a funny option in my opinion as the fed gov already knows you have the rifles (or at least the lower which to them is a rifle). CA can probably get that info if needed. Just another way to force some people to give them up or reduce them to semi-worthless assault-less rifles.

You can sell it out of state. Good thing I have family who still live in states with freedoms for safe keeping.

Oh yeah, cause we all know Bobbie joe and Frankie Jay from Nevada will want to buy my completely kid friendly fucked AR-15 that is registered up the ass and has the "CA stigma" attached to it. Lol. I thought that rule was funny when I read it.

To me, the MagLock option seems like the way to go. When I read about all the rules that come with a registered "assault weapon." It literally takes away every aspect of the gun itself in my opinion. As mentioned previously, even things like not being able to pass it down to a family member or drop it off at the gunsmith for a couple of days seems crazy to me.

I know right? I was referring to selling neutered rifles that are registered in CA not our CA compliant rifles.

yah they really do not want you to have it in any form. The gunsmith rules is a bit crazy to me. Hold on I need you to do some work, I am going to camp out and wait for you to finish.

This is what I don't get as well. They literally already have all my information in the system attached to the firearm. Not getting too political, but the new legislation was totally a slap in the face... and a easy way to make more cash for the reigistration fees n shit

Before we get banned for getting too political on a Saturday morning... I think a group of us will have to save the gun law venting and frustration for a time when we are all around a campfire and there's a beer in each of our hands. Lol
