Problems raising/lifting seats!

I went and tried to raise my 2017 Taco seats with washers and longer bolts. Couldn't get them to line up. Seems like as I raised the seat with washers, the alignment became off making it impossible to get the bolts in. Advice please??? Thanks all!

 

My advice is to leave the fasteners the way that they were and find a seat cushion to raise you up.

Stacking washers in a crucial application like that is not safe.

 

Or, if you insist on doing this....the spacer must be angled. I'm thinking a piece of pipe of the appropriate dia. and then cut on an angle that move the rear higher than the front.....
Just something I'd look at doing if I were so inclined...

There's a couple of threads on it in here if you search for them. I believe you can only raise the back of the seat. The way the front brackets are angled would prevent you from raising it as well. I haven't see a solution on here yet for the front.

 

I have the opposite problem. Yours is easy

I think you will need to have brackets fabricated. Be sure to use good material and grade 8 bolts. Your seat is a safety device.

You know in a crash the seat does nothing for you! The seat belt does all the work!

Just raise the rear--I made 32 mm long spacers of 1¼ aluminum bar stock. Used M10 x 1.25 x 60 class 10.9 flange head bolts and hardened washers from Ace Hardware. Metric class 10.9 fasteners have a tensile strength of approximately 10 * 100 = 1000 MPa (145k PSI), and a yield strength of 90% of that. They are the equivalent of SAE grade 8 fasteners--torque them to 27 lb·ft.

Done in this manner I have no concerns as to the safety of the modification.



The OEM bolts have an M8 x 1.25 tapered nose, I suspect as an assembly aid. I turned down the nose of the M10 bolts which made getting them located and started much easier.
