Yeah I think OP Is wasting their time pulling up the console. But, it just pops off in a few seconds so worth a look.

I work with chemicals and no way it's something caustic. It would have to be very strong and certainly wouldn't dissolve the plastic in straight even lines. Plus it would leave a gooey mess.

    It's still a mystery....

Looks like the leather has a direction to the damage. The lines also line up with some of the plastic scratches. If that's the case it looks like it was made mechanically. Something heavy enough to score the plastic but not hard enough to scratch the plexi.

    Knot an affair...a stripper.

It looks like the suns rays got magnified by something and as the sun rose/set it burned those lines like a slowly moving magnifying glass.

Okay I am changing my theory now to a magnification burn via reflection.
Looking closely the "burn lines", they skip right over the chrome bezel and gear selector plastic(anything that is reflective).

@paje67 you mentioned this happened over a period of time. Could you post a picture where you park the truck? Is there anything around it; glass wind chimes, mirrors, etc?

We need some CSI level up in here.
