I just stained my new deck. I let it dry for 8 months and actually still had some sap seep out after I stained it.
I would recommend cleaning it and then using a wood brightener. I got s kot called restore a deck. It really worked well. The cleaner does just that...cleans. I then power washed it and applied the wood brightener and let it sit for maybe a half hour then rinsed it. It supposedly helps the wood accept the stain and makes the color even. Seemed to work very well. Then you have to let it dry for a few days. Really it's a 2 weekend project.
I ordered armstrong Clark semi transparent oil based stain. Applied with a car wash brush and it went on nice and easy and quick. Pretty much every review I read about a solid stain was that they peel quickly and need to be sanded and redone very often. This deck is about 40x12, plus stairs and railings minus the ballasters, I used about 3-4 gallons. You'll probably need 2-3 gallons

 

I agree, people buy them and never use them all the time. That's why I bought a inflatable to see how much we would use it. I did more than my wife, about 4 times a week, she was about 2 or 3. It's nice to relax in it while knocking back a couple cold ones. As for the sweating, it's been hot lately even at night so I fire up the misto and get the hot/cold going with the nice mist.

 

Ours cost about $20 a month. We heated it to 100F, used super industrial bubble wrap floating on the water (to keep evap. down) and a custom cover that was 4" of foam.

Agreed, part of the list why we got rid of our. And we usually only used it in the winter.

You can get Legionnaire's Disease, a type of lung infection, in a similar manner as hot tub lung -- by breathing in vapors that contain bacteria, in this case Legionella bacteria. High fever, chills and cough are common symptoms. Though this disease is typically curable with antibiotics, it can cause death in up to 10 to 30 percent of cases, according to the CDC.

 

There was a case a few years ago about the Hooters Hotel in Vegas causing burns to hot tub visitors on over 90% of their bodies. What people don't realize is the slightest chemical unbalance can cause major issues with health.....

Apartment complex Hot Tubs are the worse and need to be avoided at all costs...

Builder FINALLY sent the repair guy to fix the door handle and fridge water line...they took 2 months. Apparently the "only" issue with the fridge line is it wasn't connected under the sink. 2 foot line of braided hose and tadaaa, we can now make ice and have chilled/filtered water...or so we thought.

Came downstairs 2 hours later to a quarter inch of water in the dining room and kitchen. Open the freezer and water came pouring out. Turned off the water source and did cleanup. That was 2 days ago, seems to be no lasting damage to our flooring or anything as we caught it quick. It appears now that the fridge itself has a defect in the icemaker, as the water was coming from a source near there. Contacted the builder, who said they would send their repair guy but if its the fridge itself, to contact GE (they are GE appliances). The guy came out and agreed it's the fridge itself, not much he could do. We also discovered about a 6 inch crack in the inside lining of the freezer (seems unrelated but obviously an issue as well).

The house was built in 2015, but we're the first owners and moved in 4/17. Appliances only have 1 year warranties...I contacted GE thinking thinking I would get a rigamaroll and stuck in a fight with the builder since the appliances were installed well over a year ago and be considered "out of warranty." LUCKILY they said the 1 year warranty starts from the move in date of the first owner, so they'll be out next week.

 

sure, blame the chemicals.

 

Prepping (attaching hinge jamb & sweep) my EMCO/Andersen 400 Series Storm door for hanging tomorrow.

They now come with these plastic spacer gadgets you attach to non jamb side & bottom and it's supposed to align the door properly in the opening when tight against the jamb side.
