I think it's more of height adjustment that people are concerned about, but I agree. I've never seen so many people complain about the seats on here and on various reviews online.

I have sat in one, but not long enough to tell how it would be on a day to day basis. I can't imagine it would be any worse than my current ride.

I'm starting to think its a cab design safety\liability issue as far as seat high adjustment.
I mean unlike a car, its a vehicle design to go off road and if a tall person has the seat up and the truck jumps it could jam their necks, ouch!
Could also be the frame for height adjustment takes more upward room that they don't want to take up or can spare and could do the same thing.
But idk and until I see one come off the assembly line that's the only thing I can imagine for now lol!

No worries, it adjust just fine once & be done, let the next driver do the same
    Cheers!

I do agree. Power seats are no big deal, but when a "mid size" truck costs 40K (Limited model). I do expect some basic luxury features to be standard at that price range.

The truck already has keyless entry, push button start, dual climate control, etc. But no power seats. That's an odd omission; especially on the Limited model.

I think it's because the civic types have crept all up in truck ownership. They have a hard time adjusting to something that wasn't meant for a 16 year old girl.

No offense taken but I want power seats on all of my vehicles. To each their own but like most I'm driving an expensive truck and the seating position is not optimal for someone with a military injury. Peace.

No civic type here pal - just NEED something you don't. Doesn't make someone whiny or needy.

Agreed. I need better adjustments but still like my truck. I just need a bit more adjustment out of it.

I am with you on this. I have cadaver bones and screws holding my L1 and L2 disc in place. I need something that I can adjust to feel just right. My 2005 dakota has 8 way power seats.

I'm not sure why some of the "passionate" posters on here get so upset at the first notion that someone thinks there truck is not perfect. Maybe they have never really had nicer things and don't know better or only care about their own opinion. I have owned my share of Tacos and have also owned over 30 new vehicles and countless used ones and am still in my 40s. Most trucks and modern day vehicles have power seats. Some better than others. For me it is really more of a need. I have yet to hear a legit reason why Toyota doesn't have them. And, if the 2018s have them then it just proves us all the more right.

I had power seats in my GM truck and I had trouble with the motor going out on the drivers seat and the tracks wearing out causing the seats to move back and forth when accelerating and breaking I didn't want power seats that just something else to go wrong

My car is 25 years old with power seats and never had the first problem, it's nothing more than a simple reliable electric motor turning a threaded rod, might as well not have power windows in a vehicle as they operate on a similar concept.

I "need" a particular feature on my truck.

Tacoma doesn't offer it but other manufacturers do.

Guess I will buy a Tacoma.

    Because?

Completely understand your need, just offering an answer to your question on why people get upset about others complaining:

People seem to think that all these extra things they're asking for/demanding will be free... I completely agree that we should get more for our money, but that's not the way it works. Every additional thing Toyota adds is going to add to the already high price of these trucks. And Toyota's philosophy is not to give individual options, but to tell us what we want/need and make us pay for it. So a lot of people are against the idea of adding "unnecessary" things that will add unnecessary cost.

Most people would like to have either manual adjustable seats or power seats. Even if it would cost $50-100 more then they paid.

I'm not saying you're wrong necessarily, but don't assume that because a high percentage of the vocal minority of Tacoma owners want something, that it translates to all Tacoma owners. People who are unhappy about things will always be more vocal.

And for the record, personally, I think it would be pointless to have height adjustment because the roofline is already so low that it limits visibility.

Manual height adjustment would be great. Our Rav4 has it and I am surprised how much a difference two or three pumps up makes.

I hear ya Moondog, but idk why there's no "official" response from Toyota on this, (that I can recall) I'd like to hear it as I'd hate to think its about the money, which I don't btw, pretty much all vehicles with upper trims have them.

I'm more inclined to think the frame to accommodate the mechanism would have to be larger and take up more room on top and thus eliminate some taller drivers from owing it.

Already its tight for some bros and a little more and they'll be out of this market. But I honestly don't know, and would like to know too if that's the case or what is the reason.

It is more to go wrong true, but they could make an option for those willing to pay or deal with those issued if it should come to that.

I've had my share of power seat issues, just like power windows issues also.
But that was long ago, and I preferred manual to avoid those issues then, but glad to say I don't think that's much of a problem anymore as they are most standard now and the issues are relatively minor and uncommon.
You're more likely to have drive-ability issues now than seat or power window concerns.

We've come a long way, but Toyota at least on this model is still behind imo.
Not that I need it as it would be irrelevant to me, I'm doing fine without it but I'd still would rather have it than not, for the sake of other drivers that may use my truck.

    Cheers!

I won't disagree, with the introduction of the 3rd gen and everyone wanting to be cool with a lifted truck to crank Florida Georgia Line to, seen some new owner demographics happening.
