Hey, I understand but do think we are too quick to jump on people that don't think the same. I get the difference between need and want but when I weighed my options for a truck the Tacoma won hands down sans power seats. Yes, on long trips I actually need a more flexible seat but I still think the Taco met more of my needs and far more of the wants. I'm all in on my Taco (absent my howling rear diff) and think that to stay on top Toyota needs to push the truck forward and not settle for good enough.

I'm all for manual adjustments but we need more flexibility. Heck, not even 10 years ago my expensive German cars had manual driver's seats. I loved them and it was only recently that many of them started giving power in both front seats.

I drove the GM twins and they just didn't do it for me. In fact, I hated them. They were better than the last gen GM trucks but I would sit on a bucket and drive my Taco over it. No disrespect intended brother but I just didn't like them. Best of luck.

Good post and I agree. Hey man, I'm no whiner but I'd like to see more adjustments. I'd take manual adjustments. I agree that we have too many people on here complaining about everything and if we got 6 way power seats people would want 8 way. Then 10. Long story short this forum is therapy for me so I'm not here to argue. I will say as passionate as people are on here I've never seen so much complaining either. I think a lot of this comes from people that have not owned many cars/trucks and honestly don't understand. But we also have issues here because of too much contentment. Love my Taco but why not ask Toyota to do even better at times? They can. Dude, we have people starting threads because a rock broke their windshields. Uh, rocks usually win that battle! Best of luck to you.

Apparently, there is no new chatter on the 18's.

I say we bring up the diesel again for 20-30 pages.

Honestly I have been really lucky with my Tacoma's seats. I'm 5'7" 175 and my wife is 5'2" 100 lbs if that and we fit perfectly. As many have said before; if you are the primary driver of your vehicle and rarely have anyone else drive it they're just fine.

In the last few years I have driven an Acura TSX, Honda CRV and BMW X3 (sport seats and all the goodies) all which had power seats. Some of the cars took many adjustments before I could get comfortable but the Tacoma only took adjusting the lumbar and tilting it back a little.

After that, we can get back on disc vs. drum brakes.

We got one juicy tidbit about options and colors, but I want some info about more MTs or an 8 speed AT. Tacos still sell well, but Toyota is getting beat up about that 6 speed AT and I can't see them just doing nothing about. I'm hoping they do something for 18 because I want a new one.

Keeping holding your breath on that one. This is Toyota not GM or Ford, powertrains don't change 2 years into a design cycle, especially on the truck side of the house.

Do you need to know, or care?
Yes, close to you, 5'8" at 165lbs. Seats fit me perfectly and have no complaints. Maybe they should have used a Texas model instead of a Japanese one to fit the seats! :D

Manual height adjustment would have been nice though, I like to be high in the wheel.

Same here, 5'10 and 155, never a complaint on any of my taco's seats. Anyone who's pushing 6' or 200lbs should probably be looking at a full size.

Probably true, but it would be disappointing. I'm just being optimistic because I want a new truck this Fall and I doubt I can live with the third gen 6AT. I drove a rental 15 Colorado with the GM 6AT that was getting the same complaints as the third gen 6AT and I hated it.

    I'd take the bet, but I don't want a 2017;) I need a AC TRD OR with 6MT:thumbsup:

You could trade it for that and then some seeing its fully loaded with only 2k miles. 7 tacomas, 14 years in the toyota family, the current powertrain is here for awhile, this transmission was specifically designed and built for the 16 tacoma, they have yet to get the return on investment/r&d.

That's my big problem. They don't make an AC TRD OR with 6MT. I'd own one if they did.

It's funny toyota offers the TRD sport in 8 different configurations but the TRD off road in 5 different configurations with a manual option only on the double cab short bed.
Toyota must really want to push the TRD sport because it must have the highest profit margins. I see a lot of sports on the road here and a handful of off roads in my area so the sport is defiantly the most popular selling TRD model.

Yep way more sports when I was in NJ and also in AZ, most guys will gravitate to the hood scoop, color keyed bumpers/fenders, it serves its purpose for that trim. Just funny that seatbelt mike even talks about the benefits of a manual while off-roading and yet only one option with the OR/MT combo.
