Put 120k on mine with no real problems. Timing cover started seeping at 60k and it never really got worse or showed signs of needing to be replaced. Had the oil analyzed right before I traded in and the results came back flawless. Always ran Mobil 1 5w-30 and Toyota filter.

My brothers work truck is an 05 tundra with the 1gr-fe in it, 345,000 miles on it and a lot of idling hours the odometer doesn't keep track of. Never had any major service done to it other than things you would expect, coil packs fuel pump and a couple fuel injectors, still running strong. The cats are bad though, still drives fine just has a check engine light.

If anything with the 2012's and up we have to worry about the air pump going bad I would think, or if it does find a way to bypass it since it seems pretty useless to me.

72k, just about. Noisy as hell and sounds like it's falling apart, but idles smooth and runs great.

It sounds like there are tones of bullets getting fired inside the engine. But I guess it is a bullet proof engine lol

I've got 351K on my '07. Love the motor, trans combo so much I got a '15 used instead of new. Absolutely no problems w the motor, keep the oil changed and your good to go!

Interesting...How'd you decide to just change the filter? Are you running synthetic? Thanks!

bough my 13 dcsb at the end of 14 with 34,600 on it. it now has 101,787 on it. seems solid. it has the toyota tick, which im told all vvti engines have. gonna do all the pulleys soon because i hear a light whine when i start it in the morning. just love your truck, and she'll love you right back.

What's with all of these noisy engine complaints? I guess it's a good thing I have an aftermarket exhaust, because I really don't notice any noises other than a slight injector tick at idle.

Yeah! I'm running synthetic, and those tiny little filters... well I feel more comfortable, and the oil stays real clean!

A dirty filter is more efficient than a new one, you could easily run a filter 2 or three OCIs and just change the oil, assuming your engine is clean to begin with. I always change my oil and filter at the same time though.

40k miles here on my 2015. Only thing it doesn't like is going ~90-95  I figured I can get at least 200k keeping up with the maintenance

I'm not policing you, I was just saying that you can run that filter the full OCI easily. Cut your next one open, guarantee you it's spotless inside. I've cut open a lot of these at 3-5k miles, a healthy engine doesn't produce much debris at all. I bet you would have to run one of these Toyota filters 20k or more miles to plug one up. Fresh oil is more important than a new filter to an extent, in my opinion.
Our Diesel engines get their oil and filters changed at 500 hour intervals. An average person will drive around 33 mph, 10,000 miles/33 mph=~300 hours. Gas engines run a lot cleaner and produce almost no soot compared to a diesel. That said I change my filter every oil change, but would have no problem running one 2 OCI's, provided that the oil was changed in the middle. Honda actually recommends doing this, I'm sure for environmental reasons, but nonetheless...
