Double cab pillar removal?

Anyone know how to remove the front and rear pillars? The ones that house the seat belts.

 

They are part of the structure of the cab. I am sure you can remove the molding and take the spot welds out to replace them only after some serious bracing and welding. As for taking them out all together I would think you would have to do some outrageous custom fab work. Overall I think a shop should do it to ensure the safety and integrity of the cab are not compromised.

If you are just looking to expose them down to bare metal then all you have to do is take the seat belts off and a few bolt then you can remove the molding, it just pulls away.

 

LoL, yeah man I was just talking about the interior panels. I guess I should have been more specific.

 

Good deal man, you had me a little worried! First you need to take the trim piece off at the door sill (little flat plastic at the bottom). then pull the trim piece off of your seat belt then you will find a couple random little screws, take them out and work the panel off. Pull lightly and you will be fine. When you put it all back together make sure you torque the seat belt bolts back down and you will be good.

 

Yea just finished this, thought i could add some to help. For the inside trim on the "B" pillar, this is between the font and rear seats, where your seatbelts go into for the front seats.

remove trim pieces at the bottom of door sills, grey, flat pieces both doors. just pull up and they will pop out.

remove the door gasket on the side you are working on just start at the bottom and carefully pull it out until it is clear of where you are working

Remove the cap over the seatbelt bolt on the bottom. Pry the top edges open and pull it off.

remove the seatbelt bolt at the bottom, 14mm

Pull the lower trim piece off, straight into the car, move the front seat forward and lean it forward.

remove the two 10mm screws at the base of the upper trim piece

This is the crappy part, pull the bottom part outwards, and shove the top part forward to slide it from its button clip.

to re-install do the opposite. however i recommend cutting off that top red snap button and getting a new one so you can put the snap on the trim piece first, then push the top of the trim piece straight on. You can slide it back on but it might screw up your headliner/ be a real pain / need four hands, a flashlight and a long handled screwdriver (this was the method i used)

Running any wires into the headliner be careful to thread them behind your side curtain air bag!!! dont want anything getting between it, and you!.

 

Anyone know where you can buy the red tabs? I’ve been trying for hours and can’t get it back on...
