I currently drive a 2002 Tacoma double cab and I love it, but lately I've been wanting something a little bigger such as an f150. Well tonight I was riding by the Toyota dealership and this caught my eye. I stopped to take a look and it was even sweeter in person. I don't know a whole lot about 2nd gens but the exterior was in near mint condition. The interior seemed clean but I couldn't really tell. The lift and tires is nice but I'm a little concerned with 35's on a Tacoma. I know I would never stuff 35's under my first gen, but maybe it works with the 2nd gens. I also don't know what kind of a lift it has. I looked underneath and saw bilstein shocks so I guess that's a good sign. Just looking for your opinions on this truck and its price

$35k??? You gotta be kidding me... That's robbery for what looks to be a maxtrac spindle lift, but without pics of the suspension, hard to know for sure. That's an insane price.....

With 35's, and a dealer I would guess rear blocks to match a lift that can't be reversed. It's more than 3 inch, and other than that it's a stock sport with wheels and tires. And that's over Msrp on the new sport. Too much, and again my guess is cheapest 6 inch kit that one could find. I would pass or offer lower.

Also blisteins are stock on the sport.

Way too much money. Don't do it. You can find a 2015 stock and put a really nice suspension lift on it (Kings, icons etc) for less than $35k

35s on IFS, what am I missing? Do people just use these things for show or something?

Don't know man. It's like dealers lose their minds when a Tacoma has a lift kit on it. Better mark it up 10 grand!

The lift and the wheels adds ZERO value. I can guarantee you the dealer didn't pay for it, the last owner of the truck took a bath on those mods. It's worth what NADA says is retail and that's it.

Plus your gas mileage is going to be more like 12 and 15 with those tires. Forget it.

    It's 4x4 so it's definitely not a spindle lift

2ish years ago I paid $28.5 for a bone stock sport with 44k miles. Fast forward, I have a truck built the way I want, not the way some mall crawler DBag wanted it. If you want to go 2nd gen find a different truck.

Thanks for the response guys. Like I said I don't know much about 2nd gens or what they're going for. I figured the dealership would come off that price a little but not good enough to worry with it.

I think I would rather build one the right way too instead of taking somebody else's cause you don't know what they did to it or what shortcuts they took. Lol

If it's had those 35's from day one it's also got more like 50k miles on it.

With 35's your MPG will be low, acceleration slow and gears off...plus you don't know if the lift/cutting was done right

    Crazy markup on that thing.....

My rule is to never buy a vehicle that somebody has already modified. Coming from somebody who modifies all of his cars, I'd never buy one of my own creations.

    Yes. To both of these.

Dealer is fishing. And chances are he'll catch a huge sucker fish.

And the sucker will turn in something he's already upside down on because of the huge amount they are 'giving' him in trade, and he'll just be all Sixteen Tons.

As dear 'ole Dad used to say, when at the bottom of a hole, stop digging.
