I haven't had icons on my truck, but I've gone with a buddy wheeling who runs an icon stage 4 kit on his jeep wrangler. The icons ride nicely on washboard and had the articulation for some extreme trails, but I reckon comparing the jeep kit vs the toyota kit would be an apples to oranges comparison..

It sounds like you are looking for digressive suspenion, but if you like progressive I would recommend King. They work like butter!

I am waiting on getting an 18 trd off road dbl cb. I want to change mine out right away too. I drive 85% hyw 10% city and 5 % trails no rock climbing but obviously do get into to rocks on trails to go over. My main goal is I want better ride on hwy and better stance and look at same time. Plus gain better off road truck too. I will also add a winch bumper set up. I commute and put 400 miles a week to and from work all hyw. then on weekends wife and I put another 250 to 300 miles on running with 180 of these miles hyw of the 250 to 300 rest city. I will also be pulling my bass boat to lake some weekends but it is less than 4000 pounds. I want to keep rake also. like the stance of trlfrk's truck

I understand the basic differences but I've never really ridden in either so it's for me to tell what I want.

If you dont know the difference between progressive and digressive...progressive starts out soft and gets harder at speed. Digressive is the opposite, if you are planning to throw down some serious coin on suspension I highly recommend riding in some trucks or getting a better understanding of valving. I have a few buddies who bought icon before knowing anything because icon makes a nice uniform stage package, some found icon has a harsh ride. Some have taken the plunge and converted to king. In the realm of suspension, you get what you pay for in quality, durability, and capability. Many over look this item in their builds.

I've been looking around at the kings with adjusters. Does this allow you to change between digressive and progressive via the dial?

No. This allows you to increase the compression on the shock from softer to harder. I have clickers in my rear cause my weight fluctuates alot depending on what Im hauling. Its nice though as some like a stiff on road feel and a soft off road feel. Im the opposite I guess where I like a cushy on road feel that soaks up little stuff, and then I stiffen up for off-road, but I also hit the trails with speed and so I need the extra compression so Im not slamming.

THIS. I helped my buddy install kings all around yesterday with UCAs and OME dakars. Truck is tall and rides like its on clouds...he also had adjusters too though.

I know its not what people want to here because the price tag is scary but its well worth it if you are going to use your truck for fun. And if you ever trade it in you have a couple grand in parts that you can sell.

That's another good point, there is a strong market for good parts. Sad part is many guys will never know what they could achieve cause they arnt willing to save up for a decent set up, but just want something now.

How is ADS? It's hard to find gold info on them because searching ADS sometimes default to searching for advertisements lol.

    Better than kings?

I have gotten mine from down south motor sports. They arguably the most competitive for king products.

I have heard good things about ads, but king is hard to beat IMO. There is a reason why they are dominant in the Baja race scene. What would your type of driving consist of for off road?

Fast down mostly maintained roads. I say mostly because they're maintained to a point of being juuusstt drivable around here. Things get very squirrely on stock. I'm not a big rock crawler most out of fear. I see mud in the winter months. I like trailblazing deep snow but I imagine that's more of a tire thing than a suspension thing.

Don't off road a lot and when I do normal trails. Just want to get better look and lift and get better ride on road. Want to do it right.

I got to ride in a 17' Taco yesterday with King setup. Unbelievable ride. Definitely made my decision on my suspension setup much easier ;-)
