I take his statement as his opinion and common sense on the matter and I completely agree with it. It's how NASCAR teams have always worked.

If Leigh Diffey called every race I'd actually listen. Very genuine insight.

First of all, go back and read my post. I was asking where he got his information that the Woods Brothers were letting people buy rides in the 50s and 60s. I'd really like to know. And second, just because you agree with it, that doesn't make it it a fact. I'd really like to know where he got his info.

Bowyer with his tenth top 10 today, he's getting closer. Still think he will win this year. Unfortunately, the 18 and 78 this season can only lose by beating themselves so far.

Okay, I didn't think I was getting "snippy." I just prefer fact over opinion. Remember, the word "you" is also plural. Perhaps I should have used the word "we." And just for the record, when I get snippy I call people names

And no more Kasey Kahne at Hendrick. That leaves Kenseth, Kahne, and Busch with uncertainty for 2018. Silly.

Kurt has won enough the past 2 years, rumor is SHR will offer him less than his offer. Kenseth has maybe the 5 or 77, but I feel like if it was the 77 it would have been announced by now. Khane is probably headed to dirt, where would he go?

Kahne won the brickyard 400 and Kurt won the Daytona 500. What's Kenseth won this year?

Kahne hasn't been competitive, and his win certainly didn't change that, he'll be back to mid pack form from here out

The Woods might not have been the first to set up a car for somebody with money & business connections, but it was the first that came to my mind when glanced at my bookshelf and saw my copy of "Full Throttle." I'm not old enough to have been around back then, so I don't reflect on the time with any rose colored glasses. It's always been about business. If an outsider (read: not from the south) wanted to drop into NASCAR here and there and compete, the Woods were one of the teams to call (see: Dan Gurney). A better example would've been Holman Moody. They fielded a ton of cars for non-NASCAR drivers. I doubt those drivers were asked to drive for HM solely on their skill. With an all-star list of drivers wanted to drive an HM car, surely they had to bring something to the plate other than their racing shoes and gloves.

Part of me thinks "too soon," because of the Casey Atwood experience but then again, Kyle Busch was only 17 when he started driving for Hendrick, so let's see what this Byron kid can do. I'm curious how Liberty University has the cash to burn in NASCAR. I know it doesn't come from student activity fees. I imagine some big-time donor needed a legitimate-looking means to wash some money.

Also interesting to see if Rick will set Kasey up with the potential GMS Cup entry next year.

IIRC, Kenseth drove Chevy before Roush bout the team and moved it to Cup. Then he was in Ford for years before the Gibbs Toyotas.
Busch has driven everything but a Toyota and likes the Ford affiliation.
Kahne has driven all makes, but burned his bridge with Ford when he split for Evernham back in '05(?)

Danica needs a sponsor to stay in the #10.
The #77 needs a driver with a sponsor to stay open.
The #41 is currently driverless but Busch is expected to renegotiate his contract and return.
Almirola and sponsor could leave the #43 leaving a seat open for Bubba Wallace if a sponsor is secured.

God-almighty, this is the most bonkers silly season since the mid-90s.
