This anal discussion is a natural progression of the power seat topic. :D

Pretty happy with the rear drum brakes on my 2016, plenty of stopping power.

Corporate and large shareholders need to ditch the"Made in Thailand" differentials for 2018. Since when is Thailand known for making high quality durable drive trains for the U.S. truck market .How much lower can they go to save a buck on a $ 40 K truck?

Toyota Safety Sense, I am happy not to have that. If I needed a new truck, I would be shopping the 2017's just so I would not have to deal with that feature. Probably be a maintenance nightmare in 15 years.

Haha nice! Welcome to TW.

I've been following this thread for a while for some reason. I'm happy with my '14. It's served me well for 3 years, and I plan to keep it for a long time. That said, the seats aren't very good. I hate to add to the height adjustable seat tangent (especially since this thread just got off of the drum breaks side track and now is on an anal one), but that would be a nice feature.

No issues with the brakes on my '17. Actually, they have quite the stopping power.

I could not agree with you more. Especially bc in New York that kinda stuff has to be functional to pass inspection.

I wonder if that Safety Sense stuff will be able to be turned on and off or if you will just be forced to use it.

It'll be a sure & steady revenue stream for all auto makers

Contrary to what most folks are led believe, the industry dictates which regulations they want enacted to restrict competition and generate future income

It's a wonderful world, always has been

Ok just watched this new video from Taco Bandit and it says Cement is staying on the Pro. Not sure who's sources are right but they say it's confirmed.

I disagree. I believe the insurance industry dictates it. I'm sure people backing into things or people has gone down significantly since backup cameras became standard, the biggest benefactor is the insurance industry. With safety sense and whatnot rear endings are going to become far less common, once again the biggest benefactor is insurance. The car companies play along with it for the reasons you mentioned.

I'm in the minority around here that is excited for driverless cars. They are going to be very cheap to insure, and your likelihood of dying in a car wreck will plummet. Meanwhile speed limits will go up and traffic jams will fall. People are going to look back and wonder how anyone ever survived.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Once all of you "naysayers" see and experience one of these cars/trucks go into the auto braking and save anyone in the car from possible injuries -I bet you will change your minds -whether you want to OR NOT! We have been driving a 15 Subaru Outback for 2 1/2 years now. I have not have it happen to me, but one day I happen to ask my wife if it had ever auto braked for her -- she said she had meant to tell me but somebody had pulled out in front of her -- the car slammed the brakes on before she touched the pedal. Now -- you can say how alert and quick your responses are -- I don't care --don't bother --all it takes is one time --these systems can save your BUTT.
You can turn them off to some extent -- the auto braking on the SUBIE --No. Most of the other stuff on ours yes -- please don't judge the systems till you have actually have experience with them --you are doing the systems an injustice. Oh BTW Toyota owns 16% of Subaru so many of the systems have a lot of similarities.
One more thing -- Our insurance rates went down when switching from a 08 CRV to a 15 Outback --another bonus

I don't know much about these systems, but wonder about their operation in snowy/icy conditions, when hard braking can do more bad than good.
