I'm afraid to leave the house without all my flies. even the hatch charts are wrong sometimes. We've had a lot of water this year, and the bugs are kind of whacked out as a result.

I went down to the local river yesterday evening to check things out, and sulphers were still coming off. They generally end around may here.

It's been a crazy year for hatches here too. I keep most of my fly boxes in my gear bag, but that stays in the truck. a couple small box's is all
I'll carry. The small boxes like sg45 posted hold way more flies then you'll need in a day of fishing. Some nymph's, some dry's, and some buggers.
It takes time to cut down on what you carry, but now I enjoy the challenge now. It's great to hit a stream with minimal gear, and still do well. Sometimes a hatch goes off, and I don't have the exact fly. I use the closest thing I have. If it doesn't work Oh well. I'll try again tomorrow!!

I always wear a vest, except for salmon. I got tired of multiple boxes as a result of space to keep them. I get back in pretty far sometimes, and like to have everything I could possibly need.

I saw these and decided they would be best for me. I have two, and they both hold around 1,000 flies depending on size of the fly of course. They are working for me. I got everything covered no matter the time of year, what hatch, etc. they are both completely full, and really doesn't add that much weight.

These have center sections that fill the dead space in traditional boxes. This box has all my caddis, mayfly and some stone patterns. The other had buggers, streamers, attractors, terrestrials, eggs, midges, etc.

I tied maybe half of them. The rest were bought at Cabelas on sale for 5-6$ a dozen. Got a lot of the beadheads there, can't tie them that cheaply, or nearly as well.

I've been searching, but can't find anything that looks like that fish you caught, and the GA site had limited info.

How's the water temps in that stream?

Here's my set-up. All of it fits into a small shoulder bag with room to spare. So far it's working out nicely.

Ill have to snap a pic of all my boxes. I carry 6 and they are all stuffed fulla shit. I getting ready to order 1 or 2 more. I need a thicker case to carry a buncha dries in, the ones I currently use flatten them down too much.

Thinkin about one of these - http://www.orvis.com/p/tacky-dropper-box/2jh9

We got a little bit of rain Friday night, so we decided to fish one of my favorite streams Saturday. Got to try out those new mini elk hair chubbies...

This fish measured in at 15" and is my biggest wild brown to date.

We caught a ton of wild rainbows too. They remind me of Skittles. Reproducing rainbows arent very common in PA, so these were a nice treat.

    One lonely brook trout.

PA wild trout trifecta. A wild tiger trout woulda made it a grand slam but those are as rare as hens teeth.

I probably caught 2 dozen browns and another dozen rainbows. Most of the fish took a dropper, but my mini elk hair chubbies tricked a few fish.

This was in the Toccoa river, which is a tail water, so it stays 52-60. In the REAL hot days of summer, the areas 10-14 miles from the dam may hit 62-65, but right now it should be in the 50s.
