Enjoy the 4Runner ! Im the same way and will probably doing the same after wearing my wife down enough. There are definitely more 3rd gen 4runners still on the road than that rust bucket 90s Explorer. A new 4Runner will last as long as you want!

Only criticism on the 4Runner is...what were they thinking with the placement of those power window switches...which isn't enough of a reason not to get one!

4Runners are cool. The ultimate would be a Tacoma with 4Runner running gear.

I've had mine for about 15 months and I really like the switches up there, actually prefer them there now instead of where they are on my tacoma.

Auto up and down on all 5 windows is nice as well. Even auto on all the switches

I would like to ask the designers on why it needs to be up there though?

I usually rest my arm up there, it's soft padded, makes accessing the switches real easy.

My buddy's 4th Gen 4Runner switches were perfect like the 2nd gen Tacoma. I guess I'll have to get use to the oddly placed window switches

Trust me once you start driving it you'll like it better than your 2nd gens switch placement.

One bigger complaint I have is the lack of backlighting on the interior switches. I think the only backlight switch (besides windows) is the windshield heater switch. no other switches down by left knee are backlit. My 2012 ram also had a nice greenish light glowing down on centre console area, miss that.
