Excellent job. Now could you figure out how to roll all the windows down with the key fob?

Thanks a lot OP! Quick question, any of these solutions let the truck keep running if the door is opened with FOB on your person? It makes sense to shut off if the FOB isn't present, but idk if I would really worry about this MOD if its not the case. (I just crossed over from GM land and we all know those remote starts stay running when door is opened)

I like the idea behind this mod! I just have a quick question.

I've had vehicles with OEM remote start, but have never experimented with any type of aftermarket remote start solution. What are the advantages to being able to remote start your vehicle when speaking about climate controls? In other vehicles that have had OEM remote starters, you have had some kind of menu to adjust what happens to the climate control when the vehicle starts via remote start. I can think of 2 profiles I would use most often.

    1. Winter Time - Heat blasting, window defroster on, heated seats on, heated mirrors on, etc.

    2. Summer Time - Air Conditioning full blast

I know this may be alot to ask of a vehicle that doesn't already have OEM integrated remote start, but want sure.

    Any thoughts?

It would be difficult for the truck to know that you were in the driver seat and ready to go with takeover anyway, plus the steering wheel is likely still locked. This code would need to be written into the vehicle with a second start button push honestly. And at that point you may as well just turn the starter over again ;)

We actually have the "master" harness with 3 separate adapters. Adapters are vehicle specific. We did it this way for so the master harness could be used on multiple applications (16+ Tacoma, 14-16 Highlander, 17 Highlander, 16+ Prius, and the 18 C-HR, as well as 9 different Lexus vehicles)

Got my Remote Start from 12volt.solutions yesterday. Installed unit in maybe 15-20min max. Compared to the $650 that Toyota want to put one one $250 is a great price for how easy it is to install.

Not sure what the OEM part number is through Toyota, I just called my local dealer and asked for a price. I'm a tech guy but still do not like cutting a splicing wires on my truck. This also gives me to option to quickly take it off and put it on a new Tacoma if I trade in for a newer truck with a few more options. Don't think remote start will ever be standard on the Tacoma.

Toyota doesn't offer a remote start for the Tacoma or Corolla. They don't have an OEM solution because these vehicles are considered "entry level" per Toyota. Our dealer accounts charge $650 for remote starts. They bring us the vehicle, we install our stuff which ranges from $350-$400 and they turn around and make a huge profit on it.

If someone wants a DB3 module from us, just request it. We literally have almost 600 dball2 modules on hand and about 370 DB3 modules. once the dball2s are gone, we won't restock them. In all honesty, the faster processor makes zero difference on these Toyota applications. The DB3 flashes a lot faster, but as far as functionality in this vehicle.. no difference.

my dball2 has been installed and paired successfully as of today.

quick question for others... do you hear a click inside the truck after remote starting and opening the door? I am hearing a click in the dash (Not sure where yet) for roughly 3 seconds after opening the door and the engine is killed. wasn't sure if it was normal behavior?

everything seems to function properly - no dash lights/issues
