I pulled the smaller rack to check, and it didn't want to bend too much, so I kicked it up to 2fitty for the last hour and a half.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
I have to smoke a brisket this weekend before I see my parents the weekend after.

I don't know what else to smoke. Another brisket? Pork butt? Go for extra innings and do some poultry afterwards!?

It's probably aluminum oxide. Which just means all the exposed aluminum is bonded to oxygen and not your food :D

I use an aluminum stock pot for home brewing and I maintain a nice black layer in the pot.

We were cooking some chicken leg quarters yesterday and I was telling my dad that I would like to try some of my seasoned oak wood in the side fire box one day. He said you better not throw any of that wood in there, it might have poison oak/ivy on there. He said buy your cooking wood at the store. Is this true or is he overreacting?

If you collect it yourself and there's no vines on there, it should be fine. You just don't want to collect the wood that has it growing on it.

Source: I live in Houston where poison ivy is the unofficial plant of the city and use pecan off my tree on occasion when I'm too lazy to pick up more from the store.

I use the oak as firewood in the winter for the most part so I usually buy it a cord at the time. I have no clue where it comes or whats on it. Should I just skip the temptation?

I would think since you're not using the bark, which is where the Vines generally attach, there should be no issue

Who ever is cutting that firewood is most likely not cutting any trees that have poison ivy on them. I think you'll be fine. However, burning poison ivy/oak will realase the urushiol into the air!!!
