    So close for me. Hoping to have it paid off in October. Bought new in June 2015 and hoping to get 300k out of the truck and sitting at 40k miles right now.

    I do the same. Make the payments to yourself even when the car is fully paid off. When it's time to replace it, you have cash bargaining power (hint: Negotiate on full price, but always make them think you will finance as you will get a better OTD price).

    Last loan on a truck was 2006. All vehicles since have been cash. Even paid the house off in 2011. To this day, that's still a great feeling!

    I couldn't agree more. We save every month and before you know it, you have a nice chunk of change.
