Nice. Probably not related to warm water then. I sent your pic to a buddy of mine who is a fish biologist, I'll let I know what he says.

    Some really cool shit

Thankfully, my wife loves fly fishing, as well. Makes it real simple.

I kind of like the fact that my wife doesn't fly fish. I wouldn't mind her coming out every one and a while, but I like the solitude and quiet I get when I'm without her.

I can't wait for my boy to start though. I had him with me earlier this year, standing on the bank. Found a nice little hole that was overlooked by the masses, and hooked 10 or so in an hour, and let him reel them all in. That was awesome.

Hey guys, any of you have a Denver Outfitters rod vault? I ordered one in December last year and still hasn't shipped. Starting to think their "delays" are never going to be corrected and at this point I'd be better off just making my own setup

Just live chatted them. Miraculously my vault is expected to ship this week. I'm pretty dissatisfied at this point but hopefully this product has been worth the wait, assuming it really does ship this week

Does everyone in here tie a dropper off the bend of the dry? Or does anyone tie the dropper off the eye of the dry?

I've never been a huge fisherman but I do enjoy it. My wife and I are planning a trip up to Broken Bow, OK to do some camping once it cools down. I am hoping to give fly fishing a go and see if I have any luck. Any tips/pointers?

    Hell, I don't even have a rod/reel yet.

Bend. Never tried the eye of the dropper. Might give it a go next time I'm out.

Ive never done it from the eye, but I had one hit a chubby last week, then another came and hit the dropper while I was fighting it and it actually took the Chubby out of the other's mouth. I was reading an article from orvis about how tying from the eye will actually help you lose less fish if you get snagged up on the dropper or something like that :notsure:

I bought my old lady a ton of gear and tried to get her to go. She did a few times. I'm kinda glad she doesn't now. I like the peace and quite.

I tie my dropper to the hook point. Never had much luck tying it off the hook eye, usually ended up spending more time untying tangles than I did fishing. I feel like the cast is more controlled when the dropper is tied off the hook point because everything stays in a straight line.

Agreed with both of these statements. I think the bend is the best option especially dry dropping. Just from a casting perspective having everything travel in a straight line rather than tying it off at the eye (risk getting line tangled). I'm just thinking about physics and directional vectors and how a line is easiest and quickest option to run in any direction compared to a multi directional vector of two points. (engineer problems...):bananadead:

Hey, I can relate completely. I go without her more than with. She really only likes the exotic spots. Or Lodges. For camp trips, she doesn't go as often any more. But she's cool with me going whenever I want.

    Always off the bend.

Never thought of that, may give it a try.

    This, everything straight.

Long trips are fine with her and the kid. But I like my alone time in the creek.

Off the bend, I would have a tangled mess if I tied it off the eye.

I'm almost positive they did. Production was stopped and they had a pre sale that ended last week. One of my friends ordered one

I like this home made version of a rod vault. PVC pipe, plastic ammo can, bulk head fitting and a cap and some pipe insulation on the inside of the pipe to protect the rod.[IMG]
