I ran a wire to the same ground I use for the relay and my ditch lights and it was a no go. Relays and ditch lights would work but still not the reverse lights; all on the same ground.

Wire nuts were only for testing purposes. I usually twist them to test but I wasn't getting a complete circuit somewhere so I used the wire nuts in an attempt to confirm I had a proper connection and start eliminating things.

I've had this issue before and couldn't figure it out. I've never been able to wire anything past the cab of the truck for some reason.

Check the power side. Doesn't seem like ground is the problem. Are you sure that the relay terminals are wired correctly?

What specifically on power side? Fuse is good, relay throws. Relay is correct. Only thing altered with the relay was the trigger to the light(87) was extended to the rear of truck. Its a relay from Hella that only connects one way so impossible to switch the terminals up.

What about the switch? Does it need it's own power?

Switch is good. This same light, relay, switch, fuse, etc. was used the night before and worked. All I did was move if from my bumper to under the bed, extend trigger wire, and attempt a new ground.

Not sure then. I'd say recheck your extension wire and try to find a factory ground to ensure you indeed have a good ground and to rule out the ground as a culprit.

Grounds are key in all electrical components. Try using large washers if the ground fastener is a bolt. Clear all debris and paint from the surface. No-Ox helps too.

I could've done this in little time for you Saturday

For my future led lighting installs, I plan to use 14ga throughout and rewire existing lighting. Relays where needed (2), and all connections to the new fuse panel.

Brent, I wouldn't suspect the wiring of being too small. If anything it would most likely light up dim, but possible to not light at all with 16ga.

Ground sounds secure to me. Gotta be power side then.

Or check all connector ends for good crimp/solder/twist, little play in the connector themselves, and good contact through the whole system.

if led's it don't matter. I used 16 for my rear lights and bed lights (all leds). Really depends on the wattage if you want/need to use a relay.

just make a whole new fuckin harness :p

I made all of my own. I don't screw with pre-made harnesses.
