I have seen those. I can't weigh into that as I've never used them. But I believe I've heard of good results with them.
Now, I said "as far as I know". Lol

Now if you want to get technical, we can discuss running 5x114.3 wheels on a 5x112 hub and vice versa without issue. Or a chevy 5x120.65 on a BMW 5x120 car ;)

Many aftermarket wheels are made with larger bores to fit multiple hub sizes. By using add on hub centric rings of different sizes, they can then be hub centric to the desired hub size. This all assumes the bolt pattern is the same for the different hub sizes. Some wheels will even accommodate a second bolt pattern on the same wheel.

Hubcentric uses the hub to center the wheel, not the lugnuts. Depending on design, no the lugnuts don't center the wheel on hubcentric wheel. Ie, drill out the center of a hubcentric wheel, and mount it with the same studs, it won't be perfectly centered. That's why most aftermarket lug centric wheels use an acorn style nut. Look at the flat face, that won't center the wheel, neither will the mag type, but that's harder to see.

Mag/flat is for OEM wheels like ours and VERY old aftermarket. Not applicable to 99.9% of aftermarket wheels nowadays especially ones we can even run. I know what you were trying to say but it was in the wrong context. And I should have corrected my "all" lugnuts. I meant that in terms of ball seat (european car oem) and conical/acorn.

Would a tire balacer use a cone or lug mount to balance this assembly?

None, a typical tire balancer holds the wheel through the centerbore and clamps on with "cone" shape adapters that fit the centerbore size. It would be silly to be lug mounted when there are like 15 different common bolt patterns and 5 different lug seats.

You asked the question what is a lug centric lugnut. Not all lugnuts center the wheel. The mag type the Toyota does use on some vehicle will not center the wheel perfectly. So IMO this is in contex.

Will the OP have to change his lugnuts with these wheels? Will those new lugnuts center the wheel? Would his old lugnuts center his new wheel?

    Anyway, I'm done with this.

x2. I once had a shop unable to balance my tires because they didn't have the correct hub adapter or something along those lines. Had to take it to another shop.

I edited it and corrected my mistake on my previous post you quoted. However you're still incorrect in the context of the mickey tompson wheel OP asked about.

    These things
    mW8nDyOXaGjD269rIHnWLRQ.jpg

What was impressive was a local Discount Tire had an adapter big enough for a VW wide-5 (5x205) on my air cooled beetle wheels they balanced. Thats 6.something inches in diameter for the centerbore size!

    The Haweka adapter?
The one that mimics the way a lug centric wheel mounts because the wheel bore may not be precise to the lug pattern?

Don't know, he didn't specify. Just said they couldn't balance them because my wheel was just all over the place due to not having a correct adapter. Took it to another place and they got it balanced no problem.

We're getting somewhat off topic now.

To answer the OP's question directly and for the sake of explanation: the Mickey Thompson classic wheel is indeed hub centric. You will be fine. /thread

    It's completely on topic.
I say it's lug centric, thus the need to balance aftermarket lug centric wheels using a Haweka adapter.

    I say it's a square wheel, but that doesn't mean I'm right.

    What? No. Absolutely not.

Source: I had been a shop tech and sold wheels and aftermarket parts for a living. Hawekas as extremely rare to be used.

How can you say its lug centric when the centerbore is the same as the hub of our trucks??

From what I understand the Haweka is not necessary if you have a tech who knows how to set up properly.
