What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Know lots that have LCE kits. They are nice.

 

Any recommendations? Truck's not going to make more than 200hp afaik and it seems most guys are running superchargers using their stock clutches until they need to be replaced if not replacing them with another stock clutch kit. 33's occasional offroading until I start getting more vacation time in the summers and holidays...

I'm just about to buy the Marlin Crawler clutch kit. I'm gonna be in there anyway while swapping motors so why not I guess.

 

Street clutch kit or the marlin kit with the heavier duty pressure plate would be best

 

So you're saying I should save money. Can't argue with that. Any comments on the heavy flywheel for helping crawling / freeway cruising?

 

yeah no need for that dual comp stuff. The pro kit would be a good option too.

 

Edited too late. Heavy weight flywheel going to make a noticeable difference do you think? If I need to replace it...

 

@JLee and @lotsoftoys have moved to a heavier fly wheel. It changes the way the motor acts when coming off a shift, it won't drop the revs as fast. They both love it.

 

Thank you - that's better info than just hearing how good it is from the company selling it, not that they're smoke and mirrors type guys anyway, but it is what it is. Should I get oem pilot and throw out bearings rather than use the ones that come with the lce kit?

Well that was harder than expected...

 

How many people did it take vs how many you would have liked?

 

It took 2.

The hardest part of getting the bolts and stuff off... could tell they had been there awhile.

 

Use some WD-40 or PB Blaster and jiggle the key up and down and then try turning it. As long as it is the correct key, you should be able to break it loose.

 

Is it the same key you've been using or a new copy?

I have a new key that won't work one way but if I flip it it'll open the door.
