I'm not trying to get into one of you and Ben's arguments, but...so like the stars and planets are always visible from earth, it's just our ability to see them due to the contrast of light and dark. Well in the path of totality it will get dark enough for a minute or so, that human eyes will be able to see stars and planets. I only know this because I have to drive around listening to NPR, because I don't have satellite radio in either one of my rigs.

 

So I just realized my company hasn't been paying me my bonus for the last 4 months of my field work...makes alot more sense why I always felt poor still. Im an idiot for not noticing and thinking they were actually paying me.

Ya, you're not totally wrong but still, a foolish move on my part considering I usually try to keep track of every sent I am spending on my rent and such.

Ya I am pretty sure they will honor the work and pay me. Honestly "knocks on wood" they can't afford to lose me with how busy and short handed we are. Made myself valuable in knowing stuff that others don't.

 

Frankly, I don't see the appeal of it all.

I supposed it is like many things these days, this event has certainly been amped up by all the media sources. It's like, you say it loud enough and often enough, folks shrug and think it must be true.

But I will be surprised if we don't see some very bizarre behavior as a direct result of the moon passing between us and the sun. Wut??

I honestly do not know a single, healthy, emotionally balanced person that feels the overpowering urge to witness this thing first hand. That is not to say I don't know anyone who is going. Because I do. And some are traveling a long ways to do it.

I suppose though, there some in my circle who think the same of me when I go on these long adventures to the middle of nowhere. But somehow this eclipse behavior do not feel healthy.

 

The asian popuation has a superstition that if they procreate under the eclipse it will make them have a successful male child.

 

I doubt if it is just Asians that believe that stuff. You will find those kinds a beliefs going on in most older cultures.

And I'm sure there will be plenty of that going on...just because.

Im with you, i wouldn't go a mile to watch the stupid thing unless it meant hanging out in the woods with some friends. That's why I'm camping out in my office or in Teton village the night before and working that day. Gonna get paid to hang out and BBQ at the resort and wait for shit to go wrong with the POS locations and help out if need be
