Well guys me and the fam made it up here. Went straight to camping out at badger creek campground about 20 miles past arrowrock reservoir, then made our way up to sagehen reservoir just south of cascade. About 76 miles of dirt. We would have camped a couple more nights but my 3 year old "kissed" a tree on our bike ride this morning and we decided to come back into boise for 5 nights. It's been a great experience so far! 20170803_115044.jpg 20170803_183953.jpg

Anybody have any suggestions as to where to take my rotors to get machined? Before I go to Les Schwab.

Its been my experience that its cheaper to replace the rotors...because the wobble comes back not long after getting them turned. I only replace rotors and pads no turning. Just my opinon...

You're back! Maybe this means you can make it to my place on the weekend of Sept 9, 10 and sleep in the barn with horses, goats, and cat.

Replace them with cryogenically treated rotors. The cryogenic process leaves them less prone to warping, and should last longer than non cryogenic rotors.

Ben, dud you replace a truck, or just add to your lineup?

I'd love to get back into a second gen. I like the looks better than the third gen. By the time I am ready for that, 4th gens will probably have been out for a few years. I just picked up a flatbed trailer (8x20) to be my hay hauler a couple weeks ago, and loaded up, I am pretty sure any taco a would struggle pulling it. Previous owner said he would load it with 4-5 tons. Not sure how my half ton will do with that kind of weight.

For now, my dodge is at least lifted, and on 33s, so I'm not afraid to go offroad, but it turns like an aircraft carrier. It goes pretty well though, and sounds nice doing it.

Rotors and brake pads are meant to wear and the rotors can be made with cheap steel and be prone to warping. They can also be used heavily to heat them up, then go through a puddle to rapidly cool off and warp, of crack. Shit happens and life goes on. Throw money at the problem, and make it go away.

Sooo. Does anyone have a suggestion of what rotors I should purchase? I'm assuming it's a pretty easy install process, should be able to complete myself with the guidance of my fiance & google..?

Wait, when did you get engaged? I swear I wasn't gone for long and he was your boytoy 2 weeks ago.
As for rotors, go with blanks, not slotted or drilled. I haven't done rotors myself on any vehicle, but have some needle nose pliers, 1/2 inch breaker bar, and the right size socket for the castle nut. You probably know this but while doing rotors, put in new pads, and check shoes, calipers, and other components for wear and replace as needed. To squeeze the calipers back in, there are a couple ways; slowly squeeze it and have the fluid go back into the reservoir, or have the wrench, tube, and catch can to open the bleeder while you squeeze. Do not let air get back into the line. If you don't have the tool to push the caliper back in, use a caulking gun. Before you go anywhere after you are done with the brakes, pump the brakes pedal several times to build pressure up or you won't have brakes.

We got engaged the end of June :D he is very much still my boytoy. Baha.

Thanks for the info. Doesn't sound too difficult. Les Schwab told me my pads looked good, do I have to put new pads on? As far as the above mentioned "cheapest rotors" I don't need cheap, I need quality.
