    To put it simply........... Yes.

Two different suspension systems. Both Suspension lifts.

"essentially a body lift" fuck that. the body stays mounted to it's original mounts, and everything that would be lifted with a solid axle lift, is still lifted with the coilover setup.
there are extended travel lifts, as mentioned, the Icon extended travel coilovers will do what you are talking about, but at $1400 for just the front suspension, 95% of us can get by just fine with a regular coilover setup.
another thing is that say a bilstein 5100 vs a stock shock, the 5100 will perform MUCH better, even with a coil compressed onto it.

I really wish they watered down the track that day. It was a crystal clear day before the vehicles hit the course.

I was reffering to spacers...and note the essentially. Spacers are forcing the suspension to sit at a different angle changing all the alignment geometry. Yeah you can adjust the angles enough to get it back where it needs to be, but you are still giving something up. And that something is travel. When I think about lift kits I think that the purpose should be to gain more travel to traverse more obstacles. With the spacers and coilovers your just getting ground clearance. I guess I'm just a stickler for if you're gonna do it, you might as well go all out.

lift kits and performance suspensions are 2 different things with 2 very different purposes...

What suspension system is this? That looks to be bolted to an a/m subframe too.

Toytec ultimate coilovers. 5% Window tint. 40% windshield. Kenwood DDX372BT Monitor. JL Audio 12w0v3 subwoofer set in ported Q-Bomb box. 20" Gear Alloy Recoil wheels wrapped in Cooper Zeon LTZ tires
If I'm not mistaken Toytec would be defined as a true lif if you buy the lift coils AND adjustable shocks. This would give you clearance and not stiffen the ride. Am I wrong?

spindles lifts give you a lift and also keep your stock travel. add ext shocks and your in business for a realtively cheap setup :D

im running a 4" lift so larger tires while keeping the stock travel. i dont think my eibach springs and 5100's give me more than factory

actually, quite ironically, the strut spacers increase travel. if you jack up the front of the truck with stock suspension, the suspension stops dropping when the shock runs out of travel. (keep in mind, a spacer changes the geometry no more than 5100s or coilovers) but jack it up with the stock shocks with a spacer (not a preload spacer) and the suspension can drop more before you top out the shock...and as the bump stop is still what limmits the travel in the other direction, you are effectively gaining the amount of travel as what you lifted the truck.

Note: I am not saying strut spacers are wonderful, they are usually a budget lift, but even they are far better than a body lift, and do increase travel.

i guess it depends on the spacer amount (i am not running a 3 in spacer). when i put mine in, i repainted the LCAs (for rust-proffing reasons) they were prepped correctly and the paint adhered nicely, and now you can see where the bumpstop is wearing away at the new paint.

I think you are looking at this wrong. By adding the spacer (above the spring, not the hat) You are reducing your extension and increasing your compression. But you still have the same amount of TOTAL travel. You are just changing the traveled area.

It's like a glass of water. Say the glass has a total volume of 16oz. You pour in 6 oz. of water. You have room for 10oz more. Now pour out 2oz. You've now increased the space available to 12oz. But, either way you still can only pour in 16oz total.
