    Interesting. Its the same key I've been using. Figured its time to actually look into fixing it instead of opening the passenger side and reaching over to unlock the drivers everyday

    My passenger side is broke and it's annoying enough to have to deal with that every once in awhile.

    Not sure about the older years, but on my 02 if you turn the key twice in the passenger door it unlocks both doors.

    I don't even have power locks, hell I think if Toyota could have gotten away with it I'd still have to hand crank the engine.

    Well I got the 1/2" and I'm glad. The guy I bought a cherry picker from tonight had one and showed me how tough it is - zipped off the infamous crank bolt on my engine sitting in the bed like nothing with a low battery. Thanks for answering my question, it really helped me out!

    Nice, always nice to have the right tool. Have a buddy that keeps around a pneumatic 3/4" impact for Honda crank bolts because they're so infamously tight.

    The guy mentioned that too - I feel sorry for those guys - how do you even find a torque wrench with that range? I'm going to have to borrow one just for that bolt. My 1/2" tops out around 120 ft lbs.

    I have three torque wrenches. One that's 5-200inlb, one that's 25-110ftlb, and one that's 100-350ftlb torque wrenches aren't particularly accurate at the bottom of their ranges so I make sure to have solid overlap on ranges. I hardly use my impact guns for anything that isn't rusted solid, find it often doesn't fit where I need it to unfortunately.

    I was thinking maybe it had a limited slip or different ratio - something fun like that :)

    Anyone able to keep their AC lines intact while doing an engine swap?

    You don't have to break the AC seal if you just take the compressor off of the engine before pulling it. It'll move enough on the soft lines to get outta your way.

    No prob, always happy to help if I can. Sometimes answering a question I do know the answer to can be a nice break from figuring out the next step in my dabocle.

    Bought that flywheel you linked to earlier, also a Marlin clutch and new flywheel bolts. Haha I think I'm ready. Also picked up a nice Miller 211 from a friend so I can get my tranny crossmember and slider welded on. Gotta buy a new bumper sometime this week. A lot of small crap to get ready so I can begin wheeling this pile again.

    Uh power steering pump is staying with the body, ac is staying with the engine because mine doesn't work, alternator is staying attached because I have an oversize one that's a bitch to get in place. Intake is staying on, I'll remove the exhaust header (bought new studs and nuts for that since it usually pulls them outta the head). It's easier to unplug the entire engine harness from the ecu and pull the cable out of the firewall, that way all the wires stay with the engine as you pull it rather than disconnect every little sensor and solenoid and have to reconnect them later. Also don't forget the heater hoses. But why are you pulling the engine?

    Short answer - I wanted to. :)

    Long answer - I am building an expo-ish truck and want it to be really reliable. The po bought a lot of things to mod the truck with, but just didn't keep up with maintenance as much as I would have liked him to. I'm getting to a starting point that I feel happy with the truck by swapping in an engine and transmission out of an old-gramps-mobile and getting back to a clean-ish slate. I also wanted to learn more about my truck and luckily my neighbors offered to let me use their carport while I swap the new stuff in. I'm going to dd this truck and sell my 08 once it's ready, then I'll have some more modding money for long travel and rebuilding another 3.4 I bought and tore down that will be more performance oriented. Can you tell I'm single? lol
