What's the chatter on the 2018's?

Yea, no shit. I know all about black cars and trucks.

 

The 2nd gen seats are supportive but not that comfortable because of the fixed position. Long trips always make my legs and back sore. To the best of my knowledge, this has always been a 2nd gen complaint. Never sat in a third gen. Height and tilt adjustment would do wonders for the second gen. even if it was manual.

 

But with Tacomas these things aren't even optional allowing those who want it to pay for it and those who don't, don't. How about a luxury package that's available on any TRD or a "northeast package" with heated mirrors, seats, steering wheel, etc. You're getting at one of my main beefs with these trucks though and its that Toyota is jacking up the prices to ridiculous levels. Pricing is on-par with a very well-equipped full-size offering. I paid $27K for mine back in 2009 and the truck hasn't really evolved or changed and now they're selling for almost $45K. I vote with my wallet and it's not likely I would buy another Tacoma at current prices. Resale is the strongest thing going for these trucks though which is tough to part with.

 

I agree. my biggest complaint but ill be trading for an 18 from my 16 Colorado diesel z71. at 33k miles a year and trade every 2 years it is lot better $$ spent when traded. Colorado seats are hard but at least you can adjust. Still they need to add tilt on bottom of seat and make it more supportive also plus not so hard seats.

 

I wonder if they'll still keep the option for color matched bumpers on the off-road

 

I am pretty sure they will as I dont think the sensors in the rear bumper work if they are chrome.

 

Awesome. Almost bought a pro yesterday due to wanting cement. But I'll take a gamble and wait on the 2018

 

No gamble cement is confirmed for the OR and TRD, now you just gotta wait.

 

Correct. I just got off the phone with my dealer. They confirmed 2018s don't go into production until November and Cement is discontinued on the Pro. I'm moving forward with ordering a 2017 Cement Pro since I don't care about the Safety Sense options.

I didn't ask. He just said it was coming as standard. Pre-collision, lane departure, and radar cruise.

 

think I read that it was standard now for 2018 and it would be on all Tacomas

I've driven a few cars with that stuff from different manufacturers and that crap is so annoying I just turned it all off

 

I'd have to agree with the exception of the radar cruise. I could see that being pretty useful for road trips.

 

I definitely have no interest. Our Outback has it, but I wouldn't want it in the Tacoma. Especially, during any type of off-road travel

 

surely the TSS-P stuff will be able to be disabled...

 

He said it can be turned off. Still, the added cost and complexity is a turn off. Trucks are becoming less rugged every model year. I like some tech, but if I wanted all this crazy stuff, I'd buy a BMW. Got to keep the trucks somewhat basic....

 

Another thing to think about with the new safety electronics is changing out parts ex; Grill, bumpers, etc. Now aftermarket manuf. are going to have to adapt to retain all these gizmos. No thanks, happy with my "non-safe" 2016
