Surprised @Gramps has missed out on this Shock discussion, I remember him posting lots of good detail (Progressive vs Digressive) back when I was trying to figure it out. Icons all around for me.

So what you are really saying is you don't like a digressive shock ride since you quoted all progressive shocks over Icon. Everyone has different expectations of ride quality and that is completely cool. I personally like my 2.5's with resi's. They have been great so far and I am not experiencing any of the negatives that others have commented on.

Let's keep in mind that there are other aspects that affect ride. Wheel size to rubber size, tire compound, PSI in the tires, and yes your upper and lower control arms will translate bumps and vibrations depending on your set up. Someone could go from a stock ride and go balls out on their suspension, wheels and tires, and then say they hate the ride and its because of the shocks. They don't want to blame 18" wheels with rubber bands from Nitto that are hard as a rock at 40psi. Nor do they want to blame UCA's that use heim joints or their new LCA's that have Derlin bushings in them. All of that will effect you in the seat and the steering wheel which could let you think it's all the shocks fault.

painting the bumper today... self etching/DTM primer for a couple coats, coat of grey primer, then matte black rustoleum for a few coats.. debating using the hammered rustoleum paint

I'd stay away from the hammered paint on a bumper. It's great for decorations but will make your bumper look like it was rusted and then painted over. If that's the look you are going for however, go for it!

I was wondering if it'd give a bedliner look. I'll prob just go flat black, if i want texture I can do it at the end and try on the inside of the bumper first to see if i like it!

That's a good idea! I've thought about using using the rustoleum bed liner spray. Might test it on the top part of my sliders to see if it helps with grip getting in and out of the truck ;)

Get Rustoleum bedliner paint then. It's must tighter texture then hammered so it doesn't look like you painted over rust. I had it on my front bumper until I got it powder coated. It's really easy to blend too when need to touch it up.

Hammered is too glopy(is that word?). :D

I keep telling you, you are going to get in trouble if you keep going over the plants and dirt mounds in the kingsoopers parking lot.

Sure. Do you have experience with any of the other shocks though?

With the brands you stated, no. Other progressive shocks, yes. I am sure I would also love the ride of KING shocks. Anything with a 2.5 body and resi is going to be leaps and bounds over a non resi shock.

It all comes down to personal preference of ride quality. I just wanted to point out other factors that need to be considered beside just the shock. All of those factors can affect ride quality. I personally like the type of ride I get from ICON. You like a progressive shock ride.

All high performance shocks will have pluses and miniuses. All high performance shocks will have shorter lifespans but the ability to rebuild them is what sets them apart. This is why ICON and KING have such short warranties on their shocks.

This was so well stated it must have come from your past experiences when your truck couldn't stop. :D
