Finish coming off three out of four OEM Rims on 2016 TRD Sport 4x4 with technology package.
Finish is wearing off on same location on rims IMG_5283.jpg IMG_5284.jpg just at different spots on each rim.
Haven't taken truck off roading (no time). Bought truck new a year ago.

Would this be covered under warranty, or is Toyota GOING TO say "this is normal"?
    Anyone else experienced this issue?

Take it in to the dealer and find out. No one knows what they will sale.

    But I'd powder coat.

Why? That'd be about 3/4 of a set of a cast set of aftermarket wheels' cost.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
How are you washing your wheels? I'd bet the root cause is related to handling since the wear is on the edges only.

Some rip off powdercoaters then. I paid $200 locally.

I wouldn't trust anyone who powdercoats wheels at 50/wheel.

How does that apply to most people who do not have friends that work in the PC business to receive a "friend" discount? And even if that's what he charges normally and is reputable/good at what he does, he should be charging a lot more for it.

Because he doesn't charge $600-$800 for 4 wheels to be powdercoated. So you're 3/4 is no where accurate to ANY local PC to me. Maybe 50% but no where near 75%.

Id just take it in to the dealer and see what they say. If they wont replace/fix, then use it as an excuse to buy new wheels.

What? A set of 16" Methods or SCS is around $700-750. Let's take 750 then: 75% of 750 is 562.50. Powdercoating is around $100/wheel so say around 425-450 with tax. If the tires are still mounted, that's about another $60-$75 bucks to dismount at some tire shops (not to mention remount and balance). Lets make it a total of $525 then. How is that "no where accurate"?

Again that is your local cost. Costs will vary city to city, shop to shop. I guess you didn't realize that simple concept. Kind of how like a TRD PRO in Cali is marked up the ass, but one here local to me is invoice. Or gas from city to city differs.

    Hmmm....

That's exactly why I said I wouldn't trust anyone who powdercoats that cheaply because any reputable shop hovers around the $100/wheel cost regardless of area. Plus your math is off and exaggerated. Seems to me you're just trying to justify having a friend discount on PC when this rarely applies to other people.

You wouldn't trust. Others may. Your math is off and exaggerated.
