Her stance is "we're not/can't order parts unless it's in the lot
and 'downed'. When I asked the status of parts for truck that they
have held hostage.........silence! :D I have since cleaned up the diff
really well, checked to see that all nuts were 'snug' I didn't have a
torque driver with me so I just made sure there was no play, I didn't
want to risk over tightening anything and after a few days not a trace
of fluid - my very small weeps were there for many months and dry as dirt.

Yeah, I just bit the bullet and let them take it. I figured every day they have to ground my truck, and I have the loaner, I'm costing Toyota and the dealership money, so that would hopefully speed things along (whether it does or not, I have no clue). lol

I also had them do the 2 year maintenance while they had it, so no time was wasted.

that may be my plan next month, mid Oct. is the end of my 2 years
and last free oil change so if it's not in by then I'll miss those 2 things
as well. Or maybe it'll stay clean and they'll just say "no issue"!

Anyone have a copy of the latest Toyota directive in regards to how dealers are suppose to handle repair. I saw it post a while back and am searching through the 169 pages of this thread. I need to call my dealer and want to make sure I'm armed with all the right info. My 2017 OR isn't on the recall as you all know, so I have to get them to repair under warranty.

I want to make sure they don't brush me off with a tighten and your good to go...if they should be replacing seal and bolts/nuts.

Glad you got yours back. Mine has been at the dealership a bit longer than yours, but I've noticed lately that people are starting to get their trucks back around the same time frame as mine, so that's encouraging. Hopefully I get it back in the next 2 weeks!

Enterprise told me the exact same thing. Loaners from enterprise paid for by the manufacturer during a recall don't need to be re-done every 30 days. I wouldn't worry much.

I need an opinion but let me get through venting first. I was in area and went by hostage location this a.m. and saw that several tacos were gone including mine. So I called to get update. Apparently the diff recall work was completed Friday or Saturday but they lost my phone number. It's listed as both home and cell on repair order. How can that happen? Case manager at 1-800 customer care had it right. SA then stated that the other issue I wanted looked at from service bulletin regarding shift feeling enhancements was not done because they couldn't replicate delayed engagement reverse to drive. This occurs everyday day when I back out of parking space at work and has since Jan 2016. Didn't know it could be fixed until I found info on here. It is a software update. He told me I needed to let it run 1-2 minutes from cold start. Not buying it. Don't understand what's the big deal about performing a software update under Emission Warranty. Anyway now where I need the opinion. Asked how much differential oil they drained. SA tells me 2.0 liters EXACTLY. I have 12k on 2016 bought in Jan 2016 so in my mind I've been driving around 18 months on this issue not knowing I needed to check for differential leakage. And brought it in for oil change and they didn't even bring up recall on Friday and looked like this on a Monday when I got official letter. I think leak looks pretty good size. Technical instructions most often say less than 2.0 and more than 2.0. What happens with exactly 2.0? Thoughts? Obviously, I'm having huge trust issues. I should be elated it's finally fixed on day 41.

If you have less than 2.0 left there suppose to replace the carrier .. more than 2.0 just replace gaskets etc as well as inspection for any damage. You were at 2.0 so they took that as at least 2.0 remaining.
As for your tranny, did you not ever have the Tsb rev1 flash done ? Also the tranny on the 16's are notorious for being low on fluid from the factory. Mine was a quart low so they said. I think your fine on the rear diff but I'd seek another dealership for your tranny issues seems like there not to bright over there.
Good luck and Welcome to TW

So my parents went today to the dealership to take their vehicle in for service and they told me they saw my truck on the lot all covered with dirt/dust, from sitting there for over a month.

I was thinking of ordering a sun cover and stopping by the dealership to put it on my truck. I really don't like the idea of my truck sitting on the lot for over 2 months collecting dust as the interior and paint gets damadge in the 115F Weather.

What do you guys think is the right approach to take to situation?

I remember my truck's Tonneu cover and grill fading quickly from the hot sun after being out for a week so I can't imagine the damadge 2 months would make.

The plastic interior is getting literally cooked if it's sitting out in 115 F heat.

If exactly in between, common sense would dictate doing the safest option out of the two.

But cheap dealer would dictate the least costly/time consuming.

Based on their response to his transmission issues, I don't think this service department is out to win loyal customers.

Don't put a cover on a dirty truck. The dirt will act like sand paper!

    Update #5

Ok so it's the Tuesday and based on ETA from lasy week, the parts should be here today.

Well... just got off the phone with the parts department. ETA now pushed to 1 month, to Sep 01, 2017. The parts guy didn't see any reasons listed on why it was pushed to next month. He did say there are 4 others who are waiting...
