Put the pipeline rack into the truck, adjusted for a couple of my bikes and it is good to go. Drop it in the rack and drive away, no straps or clamping. Watching the bike in the mirror, and it barely even bumped even when cornering hard. Fits 2 with the tailgate up, and 3 with the tailgate down too.

Rode "Bear Trap" from the Crest down to Guardsman Pass this weekend. 2.2 miles and 2300' of evelation drop. Steep gnar for sure. Pardon my bud watering the lawn...

Did some hooning around the state capitol while watching the Tour of Utah

Then bar crawled...um pedaled...our way home. Bar didn't have a bike rack, so we improvised.

so i had a plan on getting some bed rails to mount my bikes up over a tonneau cover.

looked into it and saw a few just like i wanted and the bed rail mounts would fit under a oem cover and others like the extang trifold.

I have the extang solid fold. after thinking about it a little more, this won't work with my cover because it has some drainage channels and relocates the bed mount rails.

Anyone know of anything that might work or have any ideas? I really like the idea of being able to put the bikes on top of the tonneau cover.

Anybody with a Softopper have a solution to mounting a bike external on the bed rails? The key here is I do not want to remove the front wheel.

KB Voodoo used to make kickout brackets that would allow you to mount a bike rack just outboard of the bed rails, but it is discontinued. Looks Like softopper made a similar one as well, but both were for fork mount trays

Looking to make my truck a little more "dirtbag" livable for bike races and stuff, and the bike takes up a decent amount of room.

EDIT: the 1UP Roof Rack Tray looks like a good platform for my idea, just gotta find a way to mount it to some bed rails.

I've considered this many times. But I think it is way easier and more efficient to just use the hitch mount.

look at mobtowns bed rails. thats the route i was gonna go but they wont work with my cover. mine adds in a drainage channel and relocates the bed mounting rail.

Yeah, I have a yakima hitch mount. A few issues are: 1) it is always in the way when I am using my tailgate for kitchen duty and 2) My Bronson *barely* works with it since it is a frame hanger design.

and of course 3) Doesn't get me those precious #ExpoAF points :bananadead:

Yeah, the rack is toast. Just gotta post it up on CL / KSL. That Kitchen is great. Time to experiment when I get home! It'll match my ghetto AF homemade awning.

Here is the KB Voodoo design that has been discontinued...It looks pretty simple to recreate...and I work for a CNC/machine shop...hmmm

Yea having the tailgate free would be nice, if you went with that set up. I think I would keep it with the wheel off option. I hate having overhead rack set ups... The wing is good I had my staples removed last week. Hoping to get on the bike soon. The valley I live in has been socked in with smoke. So even if i could ride you wouldn't want to, we have been surround by fires for over a month!
