Well, 9+ days since "we have all your parts except one of them" and I still have not received a phone call that my truck is finally ready. I know it's been stated over and over, but this whole parts situation really is a clusterfuck. You can't tell me they can't have the specs sent to more manufacturing to pump these parts out like hotcakes?

Might call today and ask for an update, I feel like I call pretty much weekly and I get told the same thing: Parts list is released at 9 AM and as soon as he sees my parts, he will call me to let me know my truck will be ready that day.

Totally agree, what a cluster. Hard to believe with today's technology they have no ETA and no way to track parts. When you order and pay for parts they know how to track them.

My truck is coming home today. Can't wait to get out of the rental. Thank you Toyota for handling this, still can't understand all the delays and misquoted time schedules. We would rather be told the truth than be told unrealistic timelines. Just my .02

So I just took mine in today. They said I had 3 wet spots on my diff. Luckily I got a Tundra as a rental. But they told me 3-6 weeks. That seems insane to me. When I was sitting in enterprise waiting, this couple walked in and they said they had been waiting two weeks and the parts haven't even come in yet... Here comes the long wait.

I gave up. Spoke to a sales manager at the dealership I bought it from and they are gonna give me a pretty decent deal on a new vehicle with my negative trade in. Unfortunately I may not be back in another Tacoma because they could not guarantee that this issue has been resolved on the 2017 Tacomas. Good luck to all, and if I somehow end up not making this trade/purchase I will continue to update on here. Just thought Id mention that the 2017 models are NOT guaranteed to be free of this recall.

yea just confirming. I remember reading somewhere on here that people are trading in 16's for 17's in hopes of this issue not being present. However alot of folks here with 17's are affected, so I just thought Id ask the sales guy and hear it from the horses mouth.

that's a hell of a hit in the wallet instead of just
getting it fixed. Unless they plan to trade a new truck in
for every problem that comes up. :D

Mine is a 2017 and it was on the recall list (but, was not showing any evidence of leaking). I took it in and they retorqued the bolts (in and out in 2 hrs).

Taking my 2016 in next monday for its 20,000 mile maint and for the differential and crankshaft sensor recall. Here's to hoping I get it back in 1 day. I looked under the diff and didn't notice any wet spots so hopefully mine is unaffected.

Do you think it would be safe to assume 2018 would be fixed? Just sold my 17 (on the list) and don't want to get back into this mess

True. I mean so far my rental bill for the past 2 months is already $2,260. So they are taking a hit regardless. If it was a hit on my wallet that you are referring to, honestly at this point Ive prepared to accept some loss. With the deal I made with the dealership, Im getting into a bit more pricier of a vehicle and my monthly goes up about $20. So Ill suck it up to get out of this mess im stuck in. I already missed out on alot of outdoor stuff this summer because I did not have a truck and they couldnt put me into a truck. Corporate laughed at the idea of awarding me extended warranty so Ive lost alot of trust on the reliability of my tacoma in general. With my luck, more crap starts to happen to the truck when my factory warranty runs out.

I would hope so, but if production of the 18's already started I wouldn't count on it. Just my honest opinion unless in writing it states that issue has been addressed.

Hope it works out for you man. I thought about the Pro with the
Midnight Metallic black but between the hit I'd take on the trade and
the mods ($6500) and the increased price - I'd end up right back at
about a 25k loan and that's what I had 2 years ago when I traded in
    my 2011.

It's odd how they'd hand out some extended warranty's for some
and others with the same issue and complaints they do nothing for.

No friggin consistency at all it seems from them other than being inconsistent!
