I don't have an XD but my CC is the XDs - 45. What I like the most is the grip plus they're always doing specials where if you buy one of their firearms, they'll give you a whole bunch of stuff. I got a range bag, 2 extra magazines and magazine holster for free. It is a bit heavier IMO than the Glock or Sig. Also wish I had gotten the 9mm version instead of the 45. Carries more bullets and a I'm a little more accurate with the 9mm.

I love the setup that they've got. I like the flexibility of carrying SA with the safety on, or in DA with the safety on, or in DA with the safety off.
Personally, I'm a big fan of the DA/SA design. My S&W 5906 has it, and it's the one that I default to when I'm not limited by size for my ccw (like when I'm wearing a jacket that I don't intend on taking off). But it's just a straight up DA with safety on, or DA with safety off. Being able to carry it in SA with the safety on would be nice. Put it in a small, light package like the XD? Sex.

Edit- Also, my thanks to the mods for not perma-locking this thread after they scrubbed it down. It's one of my faves.

See I really like the safety on my XDs. Its built into the grip and on the trigger itself. Both have to be depressed before the weapon will engage. I like it a lot better than having to mess with a swith on the side.

I'm old school, lol. I like a nice crisp manual safety on a carry gun.

For a range weapon I'd agree with you but God forbid I ever have to use my conceal carry in a real life situation, I don't want to have to think about flipping a switch on the side. At the same time I don't like the weapons that don't have a safety at all. I'd rather not blow off my foot when holstering the weapon.

I use a Boston leather belt for work. I think Blackhawk has an instructor one also. Though those are only single ply.

Found it, thebeltman.Net makes one. I remember it looked to be quality too. Around $70 iirc .
2 layers of leather and Velcro ...

There's another one out there that was cheaper iirc. I'll find it eventually.

Had a friends XD 45 jam and you couldnt open the slide. I told him I'd take a look at it, and careful examination it looked like the bullet was crooked in the barrel. Well I did what I call a reverse mortar method on it and tapped it with a small rubber mallet a couple light tries and it popped open! something fell out but I didnt see what and I believe it was the primer. Looks like it was fired but weird. May have just been a dud or didnt have any powder or just somehow jammed the primer. Any rate its free and seems to operate fine now.
