Down the line I'll probably sell this place and buy something with more land. But that's a quite a few years out. Maybe when I feel I need a new project.

 

Haha yeah I've seen you. I always see a few common rigs over by shooters in the AM as well. There's a Tan gen 3 that rolls by every morn.

So this month I'll be buying me self a 4.8 LS block

 

Let the swapping process begin... As soon as the kids are asleep of course. You all know how I roll.

Already pulled the Pro grille off the truck before dinner. Now just have to unclip it from the surround, do the same to the HomerTaco one, swap, and put back on the truck.

 

Didn't know they made a 4.8 LS? Thought they were all 5.7 or 6.0 or 6.2?

 

The LT 4.8 and 5.3 are the exact same design and internals just iron block. Makes the swap significantly cheaper and leaves room for boost later on

 

Alright fellers, it's done.

Swapped the HomerTaco special from the white surround it came with (purchased from @Ulysiss), to my color matched black one.



Removed the Pro insert, removed the HomerTaco insert, and did the swap. Pretty straight forward. Unclipping the inserts is a bitch, because of those tabs (those of you that have a 12-15 and/or have done it know what I'm talking about). The only extra thing I had to do was break off a few tabs from my surround, due to how HomerTaco creates his inserts, but NO BIGGIE. The insert still holds very well in place with all the remaining hard tabs and screws.

Since it's already almost bed time, will take a pic of the truck with it on tomorrow, and will post it up so you can all see what it looks like, and give me your input/feedback on whether or not you think I should paint the TRD letters black, to "murder it out".

Ah, okay, just looked it up and while it does have about 3" more clearance than a normal Impreza, almost 2" of that comes from the difference in tire sizes.

 

Don't give us that, we want the finished pictures!

I'm actually happy it is. Last night I was thinking today was Thursday and I was frustrated that I may not get my leaf packs by Friday or Saturday, but with the extra day I hopefully will.

I'd rather not drive too much more on a broken leaf, but then I realize it took me months to notice it in the first place, towed and carried decent amounts many times since and nothing bad has happened, so I probably don't have much to worry about.

 

How bad is your broken leaf?

 

Just make sure the broken piece doesn't fall out and allow your u-bolts to loosen up.

 

I'd be more worried about it doing like my dad's truck did and getting really close to the brake lines
