How many square feet is that and what did you pay per sqf to have that installed? I need to do that and am curious about pricing.

 

It came out to close to 2800 sf. Including the patio and them making a step. I paid a little over 16k, which included sealing and everything. So give or take $6 a sf. Where in Florida are you?

Damn that's cheap. Out here they aim for $10-12/sq ft.

 

I ended up buying this hybrid. It will be a week or more before I can install it. We'll see how it goes...

Been a while since I posted any progress pics , rough in plumbing and electrical is done with the exception of the service panel , insulation and vapour barrier done and boarders have 1/2 the house drywalled

We did a bit of Roxul Safe'nSound insulation today around the master and laundry room

 

Oz...in Canada do Americans do all the drywall hanging and taping?

 

I have to do this soon. Not looking forward to it.

 

It's the one thing I hire out when I do home improvement projects. I know my limits. Well worth it.

Hanging is easy. I'd hire out the mud and taping though.

 

Is it that bad? I have to do all the texturing and painting too.

When you say the toilets were super low to the ground, it sounds that you have a proper toilet. There is a reason the Squatty Potty is so popular, you're supposed to have to squat when on the can.

 

I mean the whole thing, tank and all. I kept a lower bowl design mainly for the kids benefit, but the integral tank on the old one was so low there was absolutely no flush pressure. Looked similar to this:

These wire nuts pissed me off so I just used electrical tape on the connections instead of the wire nuts. It is small lamp wire that I used and the wire nuts would not catch. The mirror will not be plugged in 24/7 and prob only be on an hour a day. Will this be alright? It's a high quality tape not the cheap stuff.

I did this for my bathroom. Mudding and finishing drywall is tricky if you don't do it often. Of course, it's only about 75sf so hanging it wasn't bad.

I would say NO! twist the wires together first clockwise with a pair of pliers and the wire nuts will lock on easier. There are different sizes for the number of wires you are tying together and gauge.

Speaking of electrical, I was moving 3 plugs / boxes since I am putting up 1 x 8" shiplap on a couple walls and when I tested the power afterward I got a open neutral. It's 3 plugs with one half of one plug switched. I rechecked it a few times and everything seemed good. After a few hours of trying to figure it out I found it. It was a neutral up in the top of the cathedral ceiling where I had replaced a smoke detector a few months ago. Working 15 feet up on a ladder when I pushed the wire nut up into the housing one had popped out. I had not twisted them together being up that high on a ladder. This time I did. The wiring in this house makes no sense.
