What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I do not post very often, but I try to read everything.

Thank you! They are 265/70/17 (supposed to be the largest size for stock suspension) but they still rub, most likely due to the extra weight from the bumper. I am hoping to lift the truck soon!

 

I'm planning on the same tire and size but on FJ steels with a touch of lift to level. How's the road noise with those?

 

Hopefully I don't have any problems until I can schedule my CMC.

 

Alright fellers, it's done.

Swapped the HomerTaco special from the white surround it came with (purchased from @Ulysiss), to my color matched black one.



Removed the Pro insert, removed the HomerTaco insert, and did the swap. Pretty straight forward. Unclipping the inserts is a bitch, because of those tabs (those of you that have a 12-15 and/or have done it know what I'm talking about). The only extra thing I had to do was break off a few tabs from my surround, due to how HomerTaco creates his inserts, but NO BIGGIE. The insert still holds very well in place with all the remaining hard tabs and screws.

Since it's already almost bed time, will take a pic of the truck with it on tomorrow, and will post it up so you can all see what it looks like, and give me your input/feedback on whether or not you think I should paint the TRD letters black, to "murder it out".

 

That will look great! I was debating the FJ and 3rd Gen Taco wheels.

Below 70, there is little to no road noise; above 70, there is a slight howl. I am very surprised at how quiet and soft the tires get once they are broken in.

 

Yeah, if you're running a stock suspension, go one size up and the tires will fill out the wheels wells nicely.

 

Hello Taco World! Does anyone own the KMC XD125 wheels or something similar? I love the look of the black wheels with the machined lip with the beadlock but can't find many good pictures. I've looked at the trd wheels but they don't look as good, in my humble opinion.

 

I was watching you getting peer pressured in that thread lol! You got any other red accents on your truck? The red "TRD" would be a nice compliment

 

Yes leave it red maybe touch it up a bit make it look brighter but leave the red Homer taco was rocking it on his black taco looked real clean

 

You selling that pro grill and white surround?

 

So I decided to put in two light bars in my grill with a few pieces of metal from tractor supply and moved my horns further back, still need to figure out how to run my wires through my truck and under my steering wheel so they aren't wires sitting in my truck sorry for the bad pictures...

 

LOL. Nothing else red on there now, but going to leave the TRD red and see how I like it.

The Pro insert is basically sold already, and for the surround there are a few people interested already.

 

I'm running 16" steelies right now and was wondering if you guys could recommend some good "lighter" rim options in the interest of saving a few pounds.

 

I think the OEM alloys are lighter than the steelies? If you're raking green leaves, Rays, Volks or Enkei's have a large selection of lighter rims

 

What are you doing w the pro grill?? I can take it off your hands...

 

Sorry man, already sold to my man uurx. He called dibs on it the minute I threw out the idea/possibility of getting the HomerTaco insert.
