My frame on my 2008 is due to be replaced sometime soon. Everything that has been told to me is that Toyota pays for everything except something like shocks. That is up to me and comes out of my pocket but no labor charge.

So my brother is looking at a truck which claims to have had the frame replaced, but it doesn't show on the carfax at all. Does anyone know if it should show up there?

Also can just anyone call toyota and ask them for the service records and get them?

Just take the vin number into your local dealer and they can give you a printout of service records of all work that was done at any Toyota dealer.

    do you work for Toyota???
Your truck is a write off. if your truck received that value of damage in a car accident that was caused by someone else. Their insurance company would write you a cheque for replacement value of your vehicle.
Toyota owes you a cheque or truck.

I understand the whole total loss thing but honestly I just want my truck fixed. I will pay the extra money for parts the Toyota doesn't pay even if it means the repair will cost more than what the truck is valued. The truck was inherited so I'm willing to pay for what ever needs to be replaced.

So i am from North Carolina but my closest dealer is Tennessee. Back in May I called them and they said they were not aware of the final aporrvel or any thing said if they heard any thing they would let me know. So today they called me and said the replacement program was a go. I told them i couldnt believe they called me back. Anyway I am getting it inspected right now.

I just spoke with Lelle, the attorney in CA. Thanks darcycook for the phone number. According to the phone conversation; the dealership were given a set list of pre-approved associated parts for a frame replacement (brake lines and lower control arms). After that the dealership is supposed to make a list of parts that they recommend are replaced and send that list to Toyota corporate. Corporate is supposed to approve or deny the parts on a case by case basis as to whether they are frame replacement associated parts (cost covered by Toyota) or not (cost covered by vehicle owner). This should all be done for visible parts prior to any work on the truck. Any additional recommended replacement parts that are found during the frame replacement will be handled in the same process but obviously after the work is done.
The dealerships know the process and what they need to do, I think that since it is still early in the program it may take a while for everything to become easier.

My truck failed inspection. They took pictures and are waiting on corporate approval. Said it would be a few days and they would call me to bring my truck back and get a rental.

    Looking for advice!

Went to toyota for the hole in my frame, sure enough getting a new frame. But as you all know the parts are going to take awhile to get into toyota, they let me drive my truck off the lot and just to bring it back when the time comes. Everything that is trashed due to the frame rust will be replaced per usual but the service manager threw in free labor on any other parts i wanted to replace. Not sure on what that entails but from what he made it out to be was, anything that comes off the truck to replace the frame can be replaced with a brand new part for free (i pay for the part) so Just wanted to reach out to my TW members and see what they all recommended I get replaced while I have the chance. I was thinking tranny, motor mounts and front axles. Any other suggestions? Ol Blue has 220k miles on it if that helps in the decision process. I guess what i am asking is if this was your truck, what would you replace? If i do end up making major replacements I will be keeping the truck but if I just go through with the recall I will most likely trade it in and buy a 2017 trd off road premium 4runner (saw one at the dealership and it is a panty dropper all decked out) looking for inquiries!
