Apparently. Personal experience seems to indicate that those girls are an anomaly, though.

It's not among my more popular moves, haha!

I think I've got one lined up from a guy in NM, but it's currently with another member in Seattle. I'm not sure what his timeline is, so the 20th just might work. I ordered the parts yesterday, no idea on shipping time yet.

Definitely. I work in Nashua and can roll down there with the tent so you can check it out.

Someone by Saco isn't having a great day... If it wasn't in the middle of fishing grounds with draggers around I would have sunk a 9mm round into the air pocket. Wouldn't want someone else to hit that at 1am at full speed.

It's the second leaf from the bottom, broken fairly close to the axle. If you crawl under it you can see the crack. So far the broken piece hasn't moved at all, but I check it every time I go anywhere.

Drove over two years with a broken leaf, bought last truck that way, never got around to fixing it as it never asked to be fixed. You should be okay if it's not falling out. Mine was split dead center, pieces were too big to go anywhere.

That's interesting; that boat never made the news around here at all. Must not have been any injuries.

You're not having a bad day until you find out the boat sank. Probably good until the weekend.:boom:

Nice photos, looks like a soul recharging trip.

Yea USCG was aware of it, said it was from an incident the prior day. Who knows but powerboats ending up overturned is pretty common. Typically they are salvaged quickly if they are worth $$$, or scuttled if they are far enough out.

Located the story with some googling.

    http://www.pressherald.com/2017/08/...ed-after-their-boat-sinks-off-biddeford-pool/

Sounds like the owner may have appreciated you busting that air pocket; it'd have saved him some serious $$$

"...Frederick Drake, a petty officer based at the South Portland Coast Guard station, said the ocean temperature was 63 degrees at the time of the rescue.

Drake said the owner of the powerboat, whose name was unavailable, will be responsible for the cost of salvaging the boat. The cause of the sinking remains under investigation."

Wow, so the USCG knows about it and just leaves it there to float until it gets lost or sunk? Seems odd.

Where in Maine did you bring her?

Pretty much. Guess they don't like to tow sunken boats.

    Delivered it to Scarborough

Surprised that they didn't at least mark it with a beacon or something, though, until it could be moved.

Article said it sank 2.5 miles off shore. Your photo makes it look a lot closer to shore than 2.5 miles... That sucker drifted pretty far!

I read a longggg thread on the Lake Winnie forum about a boat that sank back in 2009 or so. After a few years of speculation on the forum, finally someone who was on the boat knew about it. It was 8 hours old or so, and they had a total of 8 passengers. 4 adults, 4 kids. The boat (a Cobalt 246) wouldn't get on plane, and the wind had chopped up the surface quite a bit. They took on water over the bow, then the thing just sank... After months of SSR and divers scouring about a 1mi x 1mi area, the boat was located on it's hull, leaning to the port side, in 160 feet of water. Bla bla bla, they raised the boat and towed it to Marine Patrol. They had the boat out of the water to inspect everything. No foul play, and the plug was installed properly. They then float the boat and notice it is taking on water at the dock. Turn ignition on to "both" (dual battery setup in boat), and the bilge pump doesn't kick on. I believe they discovered the water was coming through a tear in the boot for the I/O. So basically, faulty wiring caused the boat to become too heavy, take on water, and sink.

Of course, in normal BS thread fashion, that thread turned into a fairly well-managed shit show for a little bit.

Surprisingly I'd say that's 3-4 miles I know in the picture you can't tell. It probably drifted quite a bit south, but with the strong fishing fleet I suspect it won't be hard to locate unless it sinks.

Probably never really know why it sunk unless Insurance gets involved.
