    Hey @uurx - you near SUNY Stony Brook? Know anyone that went to school there?
    Trying to get insight on the school. My daughter's been considering it.

    BTW - I used to know how to use an abacus. LOL. My dad taught me.

    There is a difference between critical torque and non -critical. Head bolst, con rod bolts and wheel lugs I consider critical. Most other shit I torque so I know it wont come apart.
    And Hunter, TTY and TTT are essentially the same thing. Bith type of fasteners are essentially the same, only the method of getting the proper stretch is different. No critical fasteners should be reused. Inuding u bolts.

    yea I am no more than 5 minutes from the campus. My close friend went to school their for math, my sister taught and studied spanish there, my sisters fiance teaches some music there, lots of other family friends and neighbors of mine have and or either teach there study there etc.

    the school is growing and growing every year, very good school I believe, but like always it comes down to the students dedication as well

    @Subway4X4 what does she want to study? If I know anyone in the specific department, maybe I can put you in contact with someone.

    Tty just don't stretch back as easy as a regular bolt. Its what cause the engine on my VW to almost fall out because someone reused the factory stretch bolts.

    In @MY50cal's profession torque is SUPER important. As is tool control

    We didn't torque @mach1man001's caliper back on as far as I know and I did a front brake job on my truck some 30k miles ago and tightened them back down with a 3/8 drive ratchet... also did the same with @joeybags caliper last take over... unless he got a brake job Im sure the bolts are still just as tight.

    Id like to know how often @loosnut uses his torque wrench and if he worries about deflection from an extension or extra torque from the dog bones when its not an engine part...

    Thanks! I might take advantage of your offer. We did the standard college visit and tour yesterday. She really liked what she saw and heard.

    I have no clue what she really wants to study. Heck, she doesn't even know what she wants. LOL.

    I believe she's leaning towards science, possibly something in Health Sciences. With a possible minor in something in music.

    Just because you have been doing mechanical work since you were 13 doesn't mean you have been doing it RIGHT since you were 13. If you really were this confident in your skills you would have done a ton more to your truck than you actually have by yourself.

    I'll fully admit I have no idea wtf I am doing, my truck is held together by hopes and dreams.

    Yep.
    @Subway4X4

    FYI - set the dog bone at 90*; no adjustment required. 99% of the time you'll have the room and swing to avoid the maths :thumbsup:
