when to do seafome?

I was wondering, when is a good time to do the seafome deal on my truck. Its got 84k. Also, is there any good write ups on it? I really am aprehensive about doing it on my truck because of all the sensors and such.

 

absolutely 1/3 of a can while its running. put the rest in your gas tank. I let my truck sit for about 20 to 30 min before restarting. I have 56k miles on my truck and didnt really notice to much of a difference like my POS 96 cavalier. That thing had people calling the fire dept with all the smoke. Dont get me wrong my truck belched out some good smoke but not like the other.

 

This is my understanding as well. Suck 1/3 or 1/2 through, then let the motor either die or shut it down. Let it sit for 30-60 mins and restart. Let the smoke storm clear and drive it around. Finish out the tank of gas (that now has some seafoam in it) and change the oil asap!

Why do you wanna use seafoam?

 

This is the truth- Seafoam ate the cat on my scion. Not sure if I put it in too fast or too much or what...but it cane do damage pretty quick if you don't do it right...

 

The best time to do Seafoam is when the neighbors aren't home.

 

seafoam will mess up sensors so be careful. It will also dry out the idle control valve on most cars too. I've been using Z-max and it has worked very well

 

Ive heard good things about it. My truck idles fine but since i have 84k on it i figured it was about time. I am kind of scared becase it is some heavy duty stuff and i dont want to ruin anything in my truck as far as sensors or gaskets. I might just drop a can in my fuel tank and see what that does.

 

1/3 to one half of can is always how i do it.....everything i seafoam. and yep...let it sit about 15 minutes to clean all the carbon deposit out.

 

i'd go ahead and run the seafoam thru the brake booster line...one man job...very easy to do.......and if your truck acts like it wants to cut off....pull the hose out of the seafoam for a sec or two.

 

my friend is always trippin out about seafoam cuz his lexus forum says you need to change your spark plugs every time you seafoam. Im calling BS, but my friend wont buy it. I seafoam every oil change.

 

I agree, i dont see wtf seafoam has to do with spark plugs. Weird?

 

its not gonna mess with your plugs...............every time they ignite fuel.....anything close to them will burn off.

 

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If it runs fine ...then don't use it.

I've never even heard of seafoam until I got on this site. I think I'll pass on it, continue to do regular oil changes and normal maintenance..
