I know there may be some who say a different pack might be better. However, I've been happy with my Dakars and what I like is the adjustability for different needs. I didn't need the full lift on my DCSB PreRunner because I drive around empty most of the time. I drove with the full pack for about 4000 miles then removed the third leaf. This reduces spring rate by about 15% IIRC and reduces height by about 15mm. It also makes the ride more plush with the empty bed. You can also remove the top overload leaf for another 15mm drop which I may do when I lower my 6112 clip position from 4th down to 2nd or 3rd. Haven't decided yet. I prefer a small rake maybe around .5"-1.0".

That's the really cool thing about the Dakars...lots of flexibility depending on your application! And it's easy to do too. Like I said earlier, I'm sure there are other good leaf packs like Wheelers, Deavers, Alcans, etc..
I did research before my purchase like you're doing and decided this was my best option for the money. I have not been disappointed at all. It sounds like with what you're wanting to do, they might be a great fit for you as well. Good luck with the research!!

I have my 6112 (2nd gen) on 5th (top) notch on my 3rd gen. Also with a camper shell constant with an Icon AAL on stock pack. Even without the shell, it felt like the rake was too much and I got a good 2.5" front lift out of them. The camper shell dropped it about 3/8th of an inch and the rake is much nicer to me now.

Nope I think they look sharp man! Just stepped down recently from 285 to 265 and I'm lovin' it.

Does anyone have feedback on using different clip positions on the 6112s? Like 3rd position on driver's side for Taco Lean and 2nd on passenger's side for example? I've read somewhere about Bilstein suggesting it but it wasn't in my installation notes for my Second Gen.

Just wondering if it really does cure the lean and if it still rides just fine?

I believe this is only "recommended" on the 3rd gen ones. 6 on drivers, 5 on passenger. There was a screenshot of it somewhere but I can't find it right now.

I'm sure it would be fine on the 2nd gen versions too. but my lean is only like .25" so i can barely even tell and it doesn't bother me.

Ok thanks! I'll see if there's any other feedback out there before deciding on what I'm gonna do.

Thanks I'm not looking to do a ton of lift either being %90 highway, I just want better suspension and some load carrying capacity options. My biggest concern was the dakars (even with leafs removed would have been too much lift to maintain a stock, or close to rake on 3rd clip. I don't have plans to go to a 285 so I just want a decent ride height that won't make the 265/70s look too small. I might go 275/70/17 but there are not many tire options at that size and rubbing might become a problem. I have Method NVs 17x8.5 waiting...

I don't think you're going to have a problem maintaining the rake you want given the weight you said you're carrying and the adjustability of the Dakars. Since I just changed from 285/70 to 265/70 on FN fx Pro 17x8 wheels, I'm needing to lower everything about .5" to make it look just about right. Also, I think my 6112s are topping out when I'm off-roading since they're on the 4th position which is the highest recommended for a PreRunner. I definitely got more lift than Bilstein advertises.

Just trying to decide between 3rd or 2nd clip position or a combination of the two. Thinking I may call Bilstein and ask them if different clip positions on either side is acceptable on the second gens.

Alright...just got off the phone with a Bilstein Tech in Poway. I know some have said that they weren't very helpful but this guy was very helpful and professional! As far as the clip positions, you CAN use different clip positions on driver and passenger side to accommodate for Taco Lean, even on Second Gens. He said they do that there on their trucks that they personally test and drive themselves. I know this info may have already been out there on the forums somewhere, but I thought I'd put it up in case anyone was wondering like me.

6112, SPC UCA, Diff drop, 5160 + AAL w/ OL, and Front/Rear Superbumps.
(6112 set to highest #6 on both sides w/ 1/4" spacer on driver side.)

Looks killer! 265s or 285s? Also, I know you're a Third Gen but what clip position are you using?

Nice...the 265s don't look too small at all IMHO. Have you wheeled it yet? Just wondering if you're gonna top out the front shocks with the top clip position like I'm doing. I don't really care for it and that's one of the reasons I'm gonna be lowering mine a bit.

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to doing this all over again and that's why I'm really trying to research which clip positions I'm going with so I don't have to do this a third time. I want to get it right on my second try! When you say "4/5 settings" I'm assuming you went 5 on driver and 4 on passenger. Did it correct the lean?

I got the 265 on stock suspension back when I wasn't planning on lift. 265 looks just right, maybe get 285 later on...not sure yet. Haven't had chance to take it Offroad just yet.
