Duning in a 4.0 Prerunner?

I have a 2007 DC BM Taco. I would love to get this thing in the dunes but I have a couple questions. Will a coil over lift do good on the whoops? I really cant see myself doing a full out LT on this truck any time soon. Does the engine have enough power to pull the sand in a 2WD?

My mod plans include the following:

A locker for the rear end, selectable.
Coil over suspension with 2-3 inches of lift.
Rear springs??????? Deavers?????? I dont know
31" paddles on the rear.

I am realistic. I am not expecting to carve the big dunes, but cruising the sand highways, running the Gecko Drags, and getting to the hill climbs would be fun.

 

you can always get a s/c! my truck does fine in 2wd aired down, but i always use 4wd to climb hills. just keep your speed up

 

If by s/c you mean sand car, my Tatum Spider is on hold until I win the Lottery. I have a 2009 Rubicon, but dont really want to take it to the dunes. I would rather drop a couple mods on the Taco to have some fun at Glamis.

 

S/C stands for Supercharger, TRD or URD

how do those paddle tires work, is your truck going to be stricly a trail rig, or are you going to switch out. with my dirt bike the paddle makes all the difference in the sand. it makes up for some of the power loss

 

I will be switching them out. I will only run the paddles on the sand. In Glamis, CA is 100% sand, no dirt, no water, no asphalt, just sand as far as you can see.

 

C/O's are a world better than stock but still a world different than long travel. There's a picture on here somewhere of a guy who tried to keep up with LT trucks through the whoops....he broke his UCA in half and bent his coil over.
