What does it have under the hood?

@h.zack801 would probably know the most.

I'm not sure yet. It was parked in the you-sell lot and I just stopped and saw this morning.

I can't remember what year my Lexus was or which level it was but I do remember it had the 2jz under the hood and that thing was mean.

Yeah your Lexus 300s are going to have the 2JZ. Edit: not the ES but who tf cares about an ES?

Be warned that I know two people who have had four IS300s between them and two of those cars had bad oil leaks and caused a total loss fire around that mileage.

Not to say that would happen to this one. You could replace all the gaskets, which would have saved theirs.

You can check on clublexus to see what common griefs are from owners of the 1IS. I believe that section of the forum is pretty active as that's a popular model.

One of my good friends has an IS300 with a 2JZ-GTE paired to a 370z tranny.

    Thing is a monster

been told he has owned it since 2012. ac works great. oil changed ever 3k. only thing that needs fixed is front tie rod. all belts checked and they're in good condition. at one time had an oil leak that was fixed by Russell Brother's (auto shop?). no gaskets have been replaced.

I also have a 3 year with tire engineers here. I just have to make sure I get the right guy. The young guy is great, and listens to me. Just like always tho the old fart is stuck in his shitty ways and don't want to hear a thing. Then gets pissed when I asked him to torque it down.

You mean an ASE certified technician throws a fit when you ask them to use manufacturer torque specs on the car you own and are paying them to work on? Instead of an impact?

I have recently realized that boxers have to have incredible stamina, like I think to myself "just got out and throw punches at the air for 20 mins and see how tired you are" now throw some gloves on and add some resistance to all those punches, now get the crap beat out of you while your doing it. I dunno how they use to go 15 rounds; that's freakin nutz

I've looked into working at Tire Engineers on the weekends. Any older level techs, they require ASE certification. Anything I have seen is HVAC and brakes as a minimum though so that may very well be the case. Lmao.

@stronghammer, converting a 2JZ-GE to a 2JZ-"GTE" takes minimal effort (from my readings, obviously never did it). The connecting rods were different on the Altezzas from the Supras but that appears to be the biggest PITA.

Shit that much beer hanging around and he could do it in one with you, @Sandytaco14, and me coming up there to drink the beer.

But I will say, I don't know if you did this EJ, but with that many miles, I would change out every seal and gasket in that sucker, put in new main bearings, new rods, etc. before I add more compression to those cylinders. That would add up. And then adding an intercooler. $$$

    But still worth it.

There's a guy in Mobile that has a 2GS with a 2JZ-GTE swap, and the thing is a rocket.
