I've put 30K on the stock Wranglers on my '16 Offroad (no lift) and am ready for new shoes! I'm new to this so help me out - should I stick with 16" or 17" rims and why? I'm going with KO2s for the tires but should I gofer 265/70 or 265/75 and why? Let's not talk about brands - just sizes. Discuss!

    Nothing in your poll.

Keep the stock wheels, go 255 85.

Folks are reporting fine fit, no rubbing, with no mods to body or suspension.

The extra ht of the tire will create a bit of lift (real clearance) for you.

THIS, there is a post on here somewhere titled "I put 255/85/16 on my stock...." I can't remember the rest of the title but it is something to that nature, there are plenty of pics in the thread to give you ideas as to how that particular size would look on your truck, I personally think it's the best option and makes the truck look damn good. Will be the route I go once I kill the factory tires.

OK guys I modified the poll adding 255/85/16 - thanks!

Question, why 255 instead of 265? Does that help prevent rubbing?

Yep. And don't forget that 85 means 85% of the width for the sidewall. So 85% of a 255 is also a bit shorter than of 265.

But the wheel being the correct fitment makes a lot of the difference. Other wheels 'fit', but very few brands fit with the same specs.

Thanks! 255/85R16 is sounding pretty smart. Will this effect speedometer accuracy?

Sure. But any size change will. Look at the tire calculator to get an idea of impact

did you notice that stock size isn't even in the poll? this is like a disease on TW... always gotta upsize to the maximum because we all know those mall curbs are so tall.

my answer is 265/65-17 ( which is factory tire diameter) because the stock diameter is perfect for all the driving dynamics the truck was designed for, and keeping the stock diameter also keeps your pep in accelerating and throttle response which gets eaten by upsizing.

but i still changed to E's: Cooper STMaxx 265/65-17. tough as nails and i climbed 33% with this setup eyes closed and no drama. and i handle like a car on road, just with E's. i originally got 265/70-17 cus i was a TW sucker who looked right past a good thing and had to jump on the bandwagon, truck drove like shit... live and learn.

EDIT: yeah i see stock 16"size on the poll. sorry y'all, it's my a- hole post of the day. excuse the mood.

The OR stock size is 265 70 16. Top of his poll. Disease cured.

Ever considered that some people don't like how the stock tire heights look? Or that they're looking for more clearance between the diff and the ground? Sorry your truck drove like shit after up sizing but it's not all bandwagon for no good reason.

Stick with the 16's if you offroad. I wish 15's would fit honestly.
