OP not sure how you have your rear setup, but with the stock bumpstop plates in the rear on the frame not bent it looked like you had maybe 2 inches of uptravel before you hit bumpstop..... that was the main problem with why the rear end got so fucked up.

Its an allpro expo back and archive garage shackle flip. I have a ton of droop by i do lack up travel. The bumo compresses to nearly nothing so there is more room then there appears to be, but without significant suspension changes idk how to add more uptravel

Probably to make it to were shocks dont bottom out first.

Your only option for more uptravel is a shackle flip with lift shackles. if you want to keep those same springs.

I have a 3.5 kit up front and am going to an LT DMZ rear soon. This is exactly right though...regardless of suspension set up people are asking for it without boxing the frame and stuff. I hope to have my frame boxed up sometime next year with a coil bucket cross bar and other reinforcing items like motor mounts and what not eventually.

I was having a discussion with my buddy who used to work at the Ford plant in Detroit when the raptor program was first starting. He said so many guys were toasting their frames because they were jumping over stuff at 65-80 mph and since Ford overhyped the truck so much it took a couple years for the reality of doing this to set in to the customer base. They eventually decided that features/jumps taken at faster than 55 would NOT be warrantied on their raptors.

The point out of this is the raptor is atleast designed from a frame point of view in SOME capacity to handle these hits. A Tacoma is still a soda-can "C" channel frame like you said. I think for anyone going to take on desert that they don't know at speed should def consider a reinforced frame or they will likely end up like you did. Not in any way bashing you here, as I think you weren't expecting this hit unlike some of the raptor guys I was talking about where they thought they could just hit anything with their truck regardless if there was a launch at all or speed.

Take a marker and make a mark like this on the tread of each tire.

    l

Turn the tires so that both marks are towards the front of the truck. Measure between the marks. Let's say it's 64". Now rotate the tires so that the marks are towards the rear of the truck. Measure between the marks. Let's say it's 64 3/4". That means you have 3/4" of toe in and your housing is bent. Another scenaro. Let's say you have 64" front and back, but you turn the marks to the bottom and measure across and you get 64 1/2". You have negative camber and your housing is bent. If when you're doing this, you notice the wheels wobbling as you rotate them, the axle shafts are bent. Even if the shafts are bent, the above measuring will still properly detect a bent housing.

up travel is the key and is essential ..doesnt ever matter how much droop that you may achieve when flexing. just one of the many reasons why I think the shackle flip is horrible.

1st step would be thowing away the flip shackle and going back to stock. 2nd step and the ideal solution is spring under. look into TC's SUA kit for the econo version and look into DMZ's kit for the overall best setup.

I remember talking about your ride in the LT forum...def seen it all.

I have the bolt on TC SUA for a mid travel set up. I plan to upgrade to DMZ during the end of this year...I recommend going DMZ from the get go.

They are there to prevent excessive negative arch. Without those ill destroy the springs or break them

Already have a shackle flip :(

Excellent thank you ill do this tonight

i think you are confusing a U bolt flip over a shackle flip + lift shackle.

Have both. The all pro u bolt flip and archive garage shackle flip. It was in development stages when i got it and he has made lots of changes since mine was installed but the version i have doesn't work too great with these springs. The angles are not ideal so it only provided about 1/2" of lift. I was never too concerned though because my truck was level and honestly I'm 2wd :anonymous::bananadead: despite the expo build, i hardly do much offroading at all. It's built to get me to more remote campgrounds but it was never built for anything gnarly or even the desert.

I agree with your concept of not spending too much for the wedding. Problem is... the ladies don't tend to see it that way.

I was in the same boat for my wedding. I wanted to just get the papers and married at the courthouse, then have a mock ceremony and have a big party with the family and friends. But no. We had to have the full on wedding. 15k later we are married and both wish we didn't spend that much and would have put it to the house saving fund.
