Keeping headlights looking new

What kind of products you guys recommend to keep my headlights looking like new? Oxidation in the Florida Keys is crazy...

You can use toothpaste or buy a headlight restore kit.

 

Turtlewax has a decent kit. I used it on some headlights that were 12 years old and it made a big difference. It has a sealant wipe in the kit to use once the restore process is used. Its been almost a year since I did it and the lights are still clear.

Optimum Opti-lens. It is a permanent head light coating. Just restored my lenses on my truck.

 

Depending on the severity of the oxidation I use Meguiars M205 if it is just light oxidation. If that doesnt do the trick I step up to M105 which is more agressive then go back over it with the M205. Then I apply two coats of Turtle wax ice synthetic paste which is safe for plastics and has a UV protectant. This will usually keep them looking good for 2-3months but thats because I dont have a garage. If you have a garage or car port to keep the sun off of it I would say it would last much longer. Also I apply the Meguiars with a 3.5 inch round "orange" light cutting pad attached to a cordless drill then apply the wax by hand.

I just put a coat of Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid wax on them each time I wax my truck. Any wax with UV protection will work just fine.

aerospace 303 protectant every 4 weeks to block uv rays which discolor headlights over time.

 

Apply regularly. Once a month would be great.

My '13 still looks great and I just put new fixtures in my '04, so wanting to give them some extra protection.

 

Even on new(er) lenses, I like to use PlastX a couple times a year before applying the protectant. I feel like it's just a nice deep clean so that junk doesn't accumulate on the surface, even if you can't see it.

I don't use a machine. Just a few dots on a microfiber. Wipe on wipe off. You can feel the smoothness when you're done. Then I apply the protectant.

 

I use plexus. It is what we always used on aircraft windshields.

 

Where do you get plexus?

Chem guys V7, jet seal or ive even used Blitz, I recently started using DG aqua wax on them too. No residue, hazing, etc etc

 

I do this also. Even the tail lights.. Man they really shine in the sun.
