Are tires covered under factory warranty?

You might be right. I am just going from experience I have had. I blew out a front tire on an 88 chevy celebrity on highway and it was like all hell broke loose. I blew out a rear tire on a Jeep Cherokee and it wasn't that big of deal just had to compensate like I had severe oversteer. Might just have been the difference in the situation or vehicles. I haven't blown out enough tires to really know which is better.

 

Rugged Fails were probably the worst tires I have ever had on a vehicle

 

x2 for switching in the spare. Also talk with the guys at the tire shop and they'll let you know if its repairable. You could even mention that it'll be a dedicated spare after the swap.

I'd hate for my spare to be flat when I need it.

This. Would you really feel right about claiming a warranty issue due to a screw in your tire?

 

If they repair it, it'll definitely hold air. I think the worry/liability is the repaired tire blowing out while driving down the road. Sidewalls on a radial typically don't have as many "plys" as under the tread and don't take a plug/patch as well. At least in my experience.

 

I got you. "They" is normally me when it comes to plugging a tire. I don't always do as good of a job. They probably take off rim and patch the inside too.

In all seriousness, same thing happened to my CR-V - at ~2500mi. The good news, very little wear on a AWD vehicle, so I only had to buy 1 tire.

jeez guys I understand it's not the factory's fault but I heard of people getting their tires replaced under "warranty" at the dealer it just wasn't factory warranty and that's where the confusion was at. Lol

At very most I would make that a spare. Put spare on ground.

 

Too close to the side wall to be repairable. Reputable tire shops won't repair that for good reason but I'm sure you can find some shady shops on the south side, or whatever the shitty side of town is in your city, that will.

 

South would be the shitty side of town in my area.

 

They might give you a new tire at a pro rated cost.
I know the big tire shops here always have that as a warranty option, if its damaged beyond repair they just give you a new tire at a reduced price.

 

if I remember right when I got my truck they gave me some little booklet thing from goodyear about how I have a warranty on the tires.
Don't remember for sure since I didn't care as the tires were going away as soon as I got home lol.

 

I really hope you're not advocating plugging a tire in that location. That is the flex zone, definitely not safe and certainly not a permanent fix.
