Ok. I think the issue is related to throttle rate. If you move the throttle too much, too fast, the computer is going to be very careful to deliver the results immediately. There will be many redundant checks. Toyota's code is no where near as good as say Ford's. Thus, with the condition I just mentioned, your stumble.

I'm sorry, but no vehicle should ever ever cut out like it's doing even if I push the pedal through the floor board. I could see if carbureted and was vapor locking. And this is new, I've floored it tons of times and it has not done this.

Sounds like traction control kicks in so you don't pull out smoking tires and losing control.

Welcome to the club this is a very common issue on the 3rd gens, mine has it and there have been several threads on it.

Good Luck trying to get toyota to fix this. Mine has been in 3 times they have reprogrammed my tranny, they have replaced my cps, now they just say its operating as designed and it should learn its way out of it.

See if you can make it do it with traction control turned all the way off.

It sounds like over aggressive traction control.

sounds like a Throttle by wire situation where there is a hesitation in acceleration due to the lag in the electronic signal to the ECU, pretty normal with all modern vehicles. might be a good time to buy a Pedal commander device which amps up the signal for a more hyper acceleration off the line.

It does it with or without Trac control

it feels like traction control kicking in but there is no wheel slippage or any indication on the dash that traction control has kicked in

I think its typical throttle by wire lag, its not going to be an instantaneous takeoff like the old throttle cable setup. a lot of these new gizmos like pedal commander amplifies the signal to the ECU for those looking for a 0-60 second drag strip takeoff in a pickup truck

Yup, normal. Mine does the same, thought I fixed it by only driving with ECT on. Think it figured me out though because now it just jerks around even just taking off straight, feels like a poorly driven stick shift. Starts quickly cuts all power then suddenly gives it all back.

Back to no ECT and it only does it when I take off quickly for a turn. Pretty sure it has something to do with the traction control because it is completely random however is happening a lot more often for me. Odd thing is I can still make the wheels spin happen after I get power back on turns and it doesn't seem to try to stop that at all...
