Ok, I do know about the search option and yes I did try and found a couple tidbits....I don't have much time to spend searching at the moment so I'm just looking for some educated input. I recently purchased an 09 DCLB TRD Sport and am looking at replacing the stock suspension on the cheap right now.

My question is if I purchase stock bilsteins from a 2016/2017 what's gonna be better the 16 or 17, getting it from the TRD Pro, TRD OR, or TRD Sport? Will any of these be a direct swap, if not what else would be required? Which will provide additional lift if any over my 09 TRD Sport stock suspension?

    Thanks in advance guys/gals.....

No difference between 16 and 17 suspension. Sport will ride stiffer than the Off road, and off road is a little softer. The pro suspension is tuned for off road and the best of all the stock suspensions. The pro suspension from the 16/17 trucks will lift your 09 about 2" up front, maybe the rear im not sure. But everything is direct swap whether it be Sport, Off road, or Pro. If you install sport or Off road, it will lift the front 1" but not the rear due to the coils being a little taller.

For about $250 you can get the bilstein 5100's all around, worth the extra pennies IMO. Then later piece together the lift if you ever plan on lifting.

Swapping a pro suspension is NOT going to be cheap by any means. Checkout @HeadStrong Off-Road 's selections. They have many affordable setups.

Keep in mind while the 3rd gen suspension will fit your truck, the shocks are valved differently for the 3rd gen than they are for the 2nd gen. Do not expect them ride the same way they would on the 3rd gen.

Thanks for the replies, after further investigation the TRD Pro is def out the door!!! Looks like 5100's all around may be about $400, would I be able to run these without any additional items and keep the stance looking level, is this going to provide a bit of a lift? I'm not looking for the raised front look nor do I like forward rake.....I've read comments about potentially needing an AAL? I just got the truck almost a month ago and it appears they did have the new leafs installed via recall.....although I'm not sure that really means anything...

Adding shocks alone will not provide lift but adding springs with the new shocks will. The exception is the adjustable front 5100s which you can have set at different height settings, but doing this will quickly stiffen up your ride quality.

If you simply install the 5100's without adjusting them, you will achieve no lift and maintain the factory ride height. The 5100's are adjustable to add lift and people will pair the 5100's with lift coils and an AAL to lift. For what you have and want, you are fine just installing the 5100's, just dont mess with them and try to adjust them. Basically what im saying, all of your questions apply to if you plan to lift Your truck, but because you arent, just installing the 5100's will be just like replacing your regular shocks with regular new ones. Your ride height will be the same, and ride quality will be better.

    Thank You!

Thank you for reply....So what I'm understanding is I can just swap out my stock suspension with the 5100's, no adjustment and ride height will be the same ( this is most likely what i'd do sooner than later ) but I can later change out the coils on the front and then do an AAL to obtain a bit of a lift if choose to do so correct? If I wanted 2" ( don't want to go bigger as I don't want to spend for UCA's or mess with alignment) what coils would be best and AAL to achieve a level looking stance?

You all are awesome, I appreciate the responses!!!

It's alot easier (and safer) to just get the 5100s (set at the zero setting) pre-assembled with the lift spring of your choice. The amount of lift you will receive depends on your truck, but I think the Old Man Emu 885 springs would give you 2" of front lift.

    You are correct.

As for a 2" lift, up front for coils, most people get OME 885 coils or 887, now which one to choose... is the hardest part. Lots of info on here, just do a little searching to see. Im not sure if you have a 2wd or 4x4, but if you have a 2wd you will get about .5" more lift out of 885 and 887 coils as opposed to a 4x4 due to weight (transfer case etc.) Like Boogie said, call up Marie at Headstrong Offroad, they will answer every little question you have and hook you up with great prices, awesome people over there. As for the rear, any 1.5"-2" AAL will do the trick, just stay away from blocks

887 is going to give closer to 3" assuming there is no extra weight from bumper/winch/etc. Heck I got a full 3" with Billies on zero and I have front skid, lca skids, and sliders.

Yeah you will probably need aftermarket UCAs if you add 3" to the front.

If you don't do any off road and your just looking to level your front suspension. Why don't you just get a spacer for the front shocks?

Since you are 2wd you also have the option of doing a spindle lift, but I don't know much about those.
