I think I got my SR5 for around 31,XXX. There's no way in hell I could have gotten 4x4 with an appropriate engine out of a new truck from big two for that kind of money.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Personally I'd get a base regular cab 2wd Chevy but a buddy of mine gets all excited over the Ford's. I don't know but good luck!

After long term rentals in all the big three, Dodge 1500 Hemi, easy decision. That being said i'd probably go for a Tundra.

Changed my vote to Silverado after reading the f150 is an ecoboost. Get the 5.0.

I just got rid of the Tacoma for an F150. Personally I like the exterior styling of the Silverado better but I ended up getting the F150 because I liked the drive of the 3.5L ecoboost better.

Also with the Chevy, you are limited to what options you can get on each model to have the floor console. I didnt want the bench seat.

Honestly both are fantastic trucks, go drive them both and whichever you feel more comfortable in is the one I would pick.

Word around the dealerships is Chevy is experimenting with aluminum. We may see it on the 2019 Silverados.

For a structural standpoint, its fantastic. From a body shop repair standpoint... well, expect at least twice as much to repair.

Your average work truck I think a steel construction is better but for the daily use and toy hauler, aluminum would be the smarter choice.

Not that this is a perfect study, but yeah, supports that steel repairs are cheaper

The thing is the weight savings by using aluminum is negligible in the ford for some reason. I'm a fan of aluminum bodied cars ever since the NSX but the Ford is a heavy pig even with the aluminum skin.

Same reason grown ass men that don't offroad lift their trucks and spend thousands of dollars making it look cool, peacocking at its finest.

They added port injection along with the DI for 2018 to remedy this issue.

OP you can probably get a better deal on a Dodge Ram and its reliability is the best rated by numerous automotive reviewers, Id vote Dodge if one was on the list based on price, reliabilty, qaulity.

I wanted a Silverado 4x4, but the Tacoma was much more affordable and a more manageable size..... Still love the look of the new chevy's tho.
